In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Clinical Psychologist Deeply passionate about personal growth with a life mission to improve quality, satisfaction, and meaning in life with as many people as possible around him, Alvin is actively involved in psychological work, public talks/workshops, and entrepreneurship. He regularly consults clients presenting with depression and anxiety in his private practice and facilitates personal development groups in university.

Carolyn Lau

Environmental Activist Carolyn Lau is a proud Malaysian that has dabbled in set and lighting design for experimental theater, like trees. She is also a landscape architect who prefers making things out of trash and thus, has a love-hate relationship with consumerist packaging and mass-produced plastic. In March 2017, she co-founded Sampah-Menyampah, a volunteer citizen's action initiative with their first campaign being TakNakStraw and their second campaign TakNakPlastik.

Daniel Lee

Born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta a.k.a. brittle bones disease, Daniel has broken his bones “countless” times since childhood. While sports seemed like a distant dream for him as a child, he found a way to be involved in the world of wheelchair marathon in 2012 when he joined his first 10km run. Since then, he has completed multiple half and full marathons on his wheelchair, and in 2013, he completed 100km to raise over RM168,000 for the underprivileged children. He is now training to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games in the sport of wheelchair racing.

Jayden Koay

Urban Farmer. Electrical Engineer by profession, Jayden developed a fascination in urban farming. Teaching himself to become a farmer ultimately led him and few close university firends to found CityFarm Malaysia.

Jazz Tan Yee Mei

CEO and Founder of YouthsToday.com Founded in April 2013 to reach a growing and vital demographic, YouthsToday is a service of the youth, by the youth, for the youth. Today, it has 80,000 youth members servicing over 100 colleges, corporate brands, media and government leaders in Malaysia.

John Son Oei

Founder and Group CEO of EPIC Collective. Standing for “Extraordinary People Impacting Community”, EPIC’s flagship programme is a non-profit initiative called EPIC Homes; a system that empowers ordinary people to build sustainable homes for families in as fast as three days and develop relationships while doing so. With a modular building system inspired by Lego and Ikea and volunteer-driven logistics, they have built more than 100 homes while working with over 5000 volunteers, from more than 50 countries and over 40 renowned organisations and multinational companies.

Joyce Wong

Descendent Born in the Sungai Buloh Leprosy Settlement to former leprosy patients, Joyce grew up with stigma. Being all too familiar with the devastation it brings, she advocates equality and is a firm believer that the best ambassadors to eradicate discrimination are the people affected by it. In 2002, she co-authored a book that tells the story of the settlement entitled Valley Of Hope: The Sungai Buloh National Leprosy Control Centre.

Tai Zi Kang
