At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Gen P. K. Saighal, is a pilot and deep-sea diver. He has trained officers of 38 Armies and counselled over 1.2 million children. Post-retirement, he headed two NGO’s and was involved in the reconstruction of many houses and hospitals in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the wake of the destruction caused by the Tsunami. He appears regularly on the TV as a defense analyst.

Kunal Chawla is an educator who has inspired the students and evoked the spirit of curiosity in them. He has made online courses with Google, Udacity and MIT and has 2 million learners worldwide. He started the ‘Chalees Minute School’ - an online space where middle school students can assimilate scientific concepts in 40 minutes or less. Kunal has also helped in building Google’s online education platform called Gooru. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas and Masters in Education Technology from Stanford University.

Marie Elangovan is an accomplished Bharatanayam exponent, noted choreographer and a teacher. She is the disciple of illustrious Nattuvanar Guru K.J. Govindarajan, one of the finest Gurus of Thanjavur Bani. She was first introduced to Bharatnayam in Montreal in 1990 and then began attending recitals by Indian artistes and reading about the dance form at her university library. She fell in love with the spiritual aspect of the dance, its versatility and richness. Brought up in Canada and now embracing the Indian Culture seamlessly, Ms. Elangovan embodies both identities, calling herself a CAN-Indian.
