In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Allison Lehn

Student, Activist
Allison Lehn is a senior at Mt. Carmel High School and runs on both the Cross Country and Track and Field teams. As president of her school's Social Justice Club, she has engaged in fundraisers for education in rural Haiti and the Dressember campaign for human trafficking awareness. She paints the school's most prominent Valentine's Day cards and can really appreciate a good bassline.

Grace Asaro

Student, Performer
Grace Asaro is a senior planning to study theatre in college. Grace is a classically trained ballet dancer who worked with a pre professional company, Scripps Ballet Theatre. She is also a choreographer who most recently choreographed Coraline the Musical. Grace and Naomi have worked together for 4 years and has had a blast on this project.

Kanoa Jung is a first year art major at CSUSM. In her spare time she paints shoes, takes photos, and designs shirts for her clothing company, Ktown Hooligans. She has previously performed slam poetry at SDSU and UCSD.

Naomi Melville

Student, Performer
Naomi Melville is a senior at Mt. Carmel High School, and currently serves as Drama Club’s Vice President. She’s been composing music for several years now, and has written multiple musicals. Last year, she worked with Grace Asaro and Andalyn Honselaar on a project similar to the piece she is performing tonight, which explores ways that music and movement interplay and affect one another.

R. Jeffrey Chang

UCSD Professor, OBGYN
Dr. Chang is Professor Emeritus of Reproductive Endocrinology in the Department of OB/GYN and Reproductive Sciences at the University of California, San Diego. He trained in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Harbor General-UCLA in Los Angeles and did a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at UC San Francisco. He served on the faculty of the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UCLA and, subsequently, at UC Davis where he was Chair for 10 years. He joined UCSD as Director of Reproductive Endocrinology in 1997.

Tyler Cunningham

Student, Athlete
Tyler Cunningham is a senior at Mount Carmel High School where he serves as a Sundevil Ambassador, President of Peer Counseling, and Vice President of Friendship Club. He is captain of the soccer team and run cross country and track and volunteers to help children with disabilities play baseball and mentor underclassman in preparation for their confirmation at church. In the future, he plans to study medicine to continue helping others.
