In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Satin Tashnizi

Executive Director and Co-Founder of the Emerald Project
Satin Tashnizi is the Executive Director and Co-Founder of the Emerald Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to combating the misrepresentation of Islam one conversation at a time. Emerald Project is a cutting edge organization that uses research driven dialogue methods to hold spaces for public conversations about Islamophobia and Islam. Satin graduated from the University of Utah with an honors bachelor’s degree in political science with an emphasis in Middle Eastern studies. Satin’s vision for the Emerald Project is to ultimately serve as a permanent voice advocating for communication and the truth about Islam.
