In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ciriac Isbeth

Activist
Ciriac Alvarez Valle believes in healing through understanding and story-telling. She is a spoken word poet and writer who uses her voice as a tool to amplify and advocate for her communities. As an undocumented immigrant herself, she is passionate about fighting for human rights issues in immigration policy, educational, and health disparities. She is an immigrant rights organizer passionately working closely with the Enriching Utah Coalition to organize actions, marches, rallies, Dreamer Dinners with local legislators, and by speaking to local and national news outlets. Throughout her undergraduate she was heavily involved in creating more access to higher education for immigrant students through student organizations, panels, presentations, and conferences. Ciriac was born in Morelos, Mexico and grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated in 2017 with a B.S. from the University of Utah. She hopes to further her education by going to law school this next year.
