In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Anika Robinson

Anika Robinson is a junior at Colegio Bolivar and loves to travel, read, swim, and hang out with her friends. During her free time she enjoys doing social service or something crazy that will one day become a funny story to tell. She is interested in studying Political Science in France and should probably get started on improving her French.

Daniela Piñeros

Daniela Piñeros is a 17-year-old junior at Colegio Bolivar. She is a proud Colombian and loves to dance.. Daniela is very passionate about art and poetry, for it inspires her to explore the hidden facets of herself. She is a very enigmatic person: always wondering about life and its meanings. She believes in following her heart’s desires...and as such she sees herself studying abroad, traveling, and become a citizen of the world by exploring new cultures. She wants to study communication, for it is something that will help her gain the skills required to transmit her ideas into society.

David Cardona

David Cardona is currently 16-years-old and is mostly drawn to History and Language classes. Outside of school he enjoys reading various types of books, having his favorite genre as mystery and also likes drawing and writing. In the future he is interested in looking for areas that involve Journalism or literature where he can expand his knowledge within his passion.

Emma Velásquez

Emma is a 16 year-old student at Colegio Bolivar. She enjoys singing, reading, writing, playing volleyball, hanging out with her friends and family and traveling. When she grows up, she plans on building a foundation in order to help educate children of low income families. She believes that the purpose of life is to help those in need. She still doesn't know what career she wants to study, but she is interested in communication, journalism, marketing and psychology. Her favorite subjects in school right now are physics, journalism, Spanish and English. Her proudest accomplishment so far is being a part of the Global Issues Network class in her school. She has been in this class 3 years, has attended 2 Latin American conferences, and she this year, she is involved in the Global Ambassadors Program that this organization(GIN) offers.

Felipe Arango

Felipe Arango was born in Cali, Colombia on April 17 of 2000, but from a very young age, he traveled and lived in different countries. He is currently a junior student studying at Colegio Bolivar. Felipe enjoys editing media, playing video games, listening to music and watching videos and learning in a wide range of topics. Because of this, even though he is considering creative processes, he is interested in many areas of study, but not sure what he will choose upon graduation.

Gabriel Duque

Gabriel Duque comes from a family of entrepreneurs. Both his father and mother have their own companies which they built from scratch. He has always been passionate about business and entrepreneurship. He personally knows the struggles, problems and difficulties that entrepreneurs face in their life and their importance to our society and community.

Laura Arana

Laura Arana is a 17-year-old student at Colegio Bolívar, Cali, Colombia, where she has lived her whole life. Driven by her immense curiosity, Laura loves Googling stuff, learning, and traveling, especially getting to know new places and cultures. Laura is passionate about global affairs, sports, and enjoys investing her free time in reading, volunteering, learning French, and being with her friends. Laura is in the process of finding out what career she wants to pursue, (since she has the ability to find the interesting aspect of any career), but knows she wants to explore the world and people from a global perspective, challenging the status quo, and yes, as cheesy and simple as it sounds, make the world a better place.

Laura Azcárate

Laura Azcárate's life is surrounded by people that love laughing, enjoy the smallest and simplest details, and are grateful for every single experience. Her family is essential for her. Friends are her companions, the ones who share her feelings, who make her days with their funny, silly, yet amazing creativity. She believes she'll study some kind of engineering, perhaps chemical or civil, however, she would really enjoy devoting her life to music, which she undeniably loves.

Martín Reyes

Martin Reyes is a student at Colegio Bolivar in Cali, Colombia. He is intrigued by the future of medicine and humanity. He loves complicating simple scenarios to envision problems that could be solved with math and science. He enjoys playing instruments, designing houses, learning languages, teaching, and learning skills and concepts for the sake of his own interest. Martin aspires to empower others to explore their passions even when the resources are scarce. He believes that anyone can find the creativity needed to do something productive out of nothing.

Sofia Lloreda

Sofia Lloreda was born in Fairfax, Virginia and is currently a 16 year old student at Colegio Bolivar in Cali, Colombia. She is a very passionate leader who loves her family and friends. Sofia wants to dedicate her life to help children and communities around the world, that’s why she’s been a part of Global Issues Network for three years and is now working on a leadership course called Global Ambassadors Program. She loves to learn, cook, travel, dance, read, write and draw. As the introvert she is, she enjoys a lot staying home with a good book and her favorite movies, but she also has an extrovert side which makes her a very social and smiley person.

Valentina Otero

Valentina Otero is a Colombian 17-year-old girl, who is currently in her junior year of high school. Throughout her life, Valentina has lived in different countries of America, including; Argentina, Mexico, Ecuador, and the United States, all from which she has learned about different cultures and traditions. She enjoys traveling, eating, and especially hanging out with her friends and family. Valentina is still uncertain about what she will do after graduation, but she would like to study careers related with business, psychology and neuroscience.
