Jawalakhel, the beautiful sub division of lalitpur is a house of traditional and cultural rituals, along the modern developments in the country. This area holds a region for local handicrafts which prevents the traditional Nepali handicrafts that were once on the verge of extinction. Additionally, it houses Central Zoo which stands alone in the country. It covers a decent variety of species of both Flora and Fauna. From the roar of the lion to the dance of the colorful peacock can be witnessed here.
As for the rituals held, Bhoto jatra is the grand finale of the chariot festival of Bunga Dyah, the longest street celebration held in Patan. The chariots are brought to Jawalakhel for the concluding ceremonies. Jawalakhel is also the cradle of Nepal’s hand-woven woolen carpet industry. Apart from this, it also serves as a hub for food enthusiasts, and has tons of things to offer.
