Theme: The Artist Inside

This event occurred on
April 7, 2018
Jakarta, Jakarta Raya
Indonesia

How does an idea inside an artist’s head become a creation worth sharing? Join us for our next TEDxJIS Salon, where a visual artist, a photographer, a filmmaker, and a trio of musicians will shed some light on the creative process. Together we’ll explore how random thoughts can be converted into inspiration, how art can be deeply personal and yet universal, and how everyone has a spark of creativity.

Speakers

Speakers may not be confirmed. Check event website for more information.

Amy Smith

Photographer + mathematics teacher
As a photojournalist, Amy is inspired by how photography connects us. Photos can educate us on long-lost traditions or bring a far-off place into our living rooms. Alternatively, photos can make the experiences of a so-called stranger seem familiar and intimate. Amy is inspired, whenever she goes out with her camera, to let each shot tell its own story.

Hyunsuh Kim

Student + aspiring artist
Hyunsuh considers herself a polymath who loves ideas. Using her own experiences with various creativity apps, she will lead us through some activities to stimulate ideas ending with a shared creative experience.

Ilonka Meier

Multipotentialite + international educator
Have you ever asked yourself if you are a creative person? Do you live your creativity? If not, what is holding you back or what has stopped you from living your creative potential? Ilonka Meier, a multipotentialite, will take you on a journey.

Musical Trio

Students + musicians
This remarkable trio consists of Rintaro Hori, Erika Koito and Hana Ogawa. They performed an original composition at TEDxJIS 2018: Crossing Paths in January. This time they will introduce the audience to the experience of taking a traditional shamisen piece and making it more and more complicated.
