In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Breanne Morrissey

Senior at Oak Forest High School
Breanne Morrissey is a senior at Oak Forest High School. She has been an integral part of the drama and music department. She plans to pursue a degree in the music industry to create music that connects or inspires others to be who they are and pursue their longtime desires. Breanne will be talking about how music effects mental health.

Edwin Lipowski

Teacher at Oak Forest High School
Edwin Lipowski is a teacher at Oak Forest High School. He teaches AP Human Geography. He spends his days filling the youth with information about the world and inspiring them to think for themselves. He loves the Rolling Stones and keeping up with current events.

Gabrielle Rona

High School Student, Musician
Gabrielle Rona is an upcoming junior at Oak Forest High loves all things associated with public speaking. She is a member of her school's band program and the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra---and seeks out to improve her band program in anyway she can. She believes anyone can excel at anything as long as they have faith and preserve through with hard work, as well as the importance of good education.

James Ryan

7th Grade Social Studies Teacher
James Ryan is a 7th Grade teacher at Arbor Park Middle School. He teaches Social Studies. He is a hockey coach and avid dog lover. James Ryan will speak about the power of getting involved.

Shaelyn Scott

High School Student Activist
Shaelyn Scott is a 15 year old activist from Oak Forest. When she isn’t protesting and marching for change, Shealyn is writing speeches and participating in her school’s civic engagement group. Shaelyn will be talking about gun control

Yosra Abdulwahid

High School Student
Yosra Abdulwahid is a Junior at OFHS, editor of the newspaper and president of DECA. She is an outspoken activist and involved with civic change. Yosra will be talking about the negative effects of standardized tests.
