Theme: Why Not?

This event occurred on

We all have the potential to accomplish incredible things. And a lot of us have big dreams. However, a lot of the time, we don’t reach far enough. We can’t see past our predefined stereotypes. Or our pre-existing misconceptions. Or the problems holding our society back as a whole that we refuse to address.

The clock is ticking. It’s time for us to look within and ask... Why Not?

Join us on June 1st from 5:30 to 8:30 PM on an adventure through societal problems to the power of the arts and the power we, as individuals, have in making a difference.

Outside of school, he often works as an actor for the Oregon Children’s Theater and Kaiser Permanente, supporting health and wellness in the community. Some of his interests include music, hacky sacking, solving Rubik’s cubes, and going on casual runs. He will be studying music or theatre in college this upcoming fall.

Elijah Alexander

Elijah Alexander is a senior at Century High School, and is heavily involved in his school's community. Besides being an officer in his school’s NHS, Elijah is also the student body vice-president, a state qualifier in Speech and Debate, a member of his school musical “Curtains”, as well as a Jagcrew mentor. He enjoys hanging out with friends, going to movies, and volunteering.

Hanna Kane

Common Sense Gun Law Advocate
Hanna Kane is a sophomore at Glencoe High School. In her free time, she enjoys napping and spending time with her cats. Ever since she was diagnosed with anxiety about a year ago, she has been inspired to speak up and use her voice for those who have none, by participating in fundraising and recruitment events for local mental health organizations, and by helping develop curriculum for schools to advance their discussions surrounding mental health.

Megan Hamilton

Optimist
Megan Hamilton is a quirky and bubbly eighteen year-old at Century High School. She adores learning languages, and has attained the status of a polyglot. Because of her love of languages and cultures (especially French), she is looking to pursue a career in international relations. She is highly involved in the fine arts, and enjoys doing things such as drawing, painting, digital painting, and creative writing. She is also a proud member of the LDS church, and actively participates in youth activities run through it. Finally, Megan loves to serve her community, and uses this to find quirky ways to bring a smile to those around her.

Nathan Burton

Mental Health Advocate
Nathan Burton is a student at Glencoe High School. He’s a very active member of the drama department, and wants to pursue a career in filmmaking. In his free time, he enjoys reading, sports, and graphic design. He hopes to be able to make a difference and raise awareness around mental health issues, as well as improve student-administration relations within schools.
