In an era with the highest technological development and level of information access ever attained in history, we are also experiencing great challenges in many areas, such as cyber-criminality, a big issue everyone (from governments to particulars) is exposed to. Another example is post-truth, a new term relating to a situation in which people are more likely to accept an argument based on emotions and beliefs, rather than one based on facts. The power of social mass media in modulating people’s public opinions and beliefs strengthens the concept of post-truth. Cooperative economy is another great challenge to many traditional businesses, which must adapt to the new habits of consumers if they want to remain active in the market. All these new elements contribute to increasing the level of uncertainty and worry in ordinary citizens, provoking reactions from organizations and individuals worldwide.
Is the current situation really so dramatic? Has Humanity faced similar situations in the past? Can we do something to move forward and build a more hopeful future for ourselves and for the local community we live in? Does the “passion for doing” exert an active role in bringing hope and enriching our views? In our multi-disciplinary event, science, economics, humanities and the arts congregate in a day where reflections, laughter and emotions will be shared in order to move toward a future where we are all necessary.
