NJCU's is hosting it's first ever student initiated TEDx event: TEDxNewJerseyCityUniversity. The theme of our event is The Past, The Present, and The Unknown. The event will consist of live presenters and will spark thoughtful conversations between presenters and the audience. NJCU has always been about bringing forth new ideas and sparking change. This is why we wanted to bring TEDx, so that we can open everyone's eyes to something new and fresh.

Adnan Ezad

Teacher + Doctoral Student
Adnan Ezad is language arts teacher at Lincoln High School and a doctoral candidate for educational technology leadership. Adnan also possesses a master’s degree in educational technology, from New Jersey City University, where he also attained his bachelor’s in English and secondary education. As a technological innovator and educator, Adnan strives to infuse use of technology into core content subjects in practical and purposeful ways. He has engaged in extensive research regarding the benefits of using technology in education and has presented on the topic in various professional development sessions and conferences and videos on his Youtube page.

Chelsea Anyaegbu

My name is Chelsea Anyaegbu. I am a sophomore in the Honors Program here at NJCU and currently majoring in Biology/Chemistry.I plan to pursue a career in the medical field with a focus on youth development. I enjoy reading, K-Pop, and making people smile.

Claudio Josuel Alejo

Claudio Josuel Alejo is an uprising educator and performer from Jersey City, NJ of Afro- DominiRican descent. After studying at New Jersey City University and earning his B.A. in History he went on to become a Graduate Student at Montlcair State University and is its current Graduate Coordinator of Greek Life. As an undergraduate student at New Jersey City University Claudio Josuel was a diligent student leader. He was the former Presidente of La Federacion de Estudiantes Latino Americanos (F.E.L.A.) and his most appraised position, Resident Assistant. Claudio Josuel has delivered lectures about leadership at New Jersey City University’s Annual LofT Conference and #KnightTalks and has held diverse workshops in different conferences. Fun Fact: Alicia Keys is his wife and Bachata; Merengue and Salsa are life.

Jeffrey Dessources is a dynamic public educator, author, emcee of Haitian descent. The native New Yorker is the author of five books including his latest Trill Motivation which through imagery, poetry and commentary tackles leadership and motivation from a contemporary perspective. He has delivered lectures at over 25 universities including Columbia and Princeton University and has performed globally in Indonesia, Italy and South Africa. He’s been featured in Ebony Magazine, The Root and Urban Cusp Magazine. He currently serves as the Director of Campus Life at New Jersey City University and Co Founder of the Educational platform, Trill or Not Trill.

Remberto "Rem" Jimenez is a 20 year veteran in the educational technology space, a Doctoral Candidate in the Educational Technology Leadership Program at NJCU, a Corporate Trainer, instructional designer, e-learning developer, and adjunct instructor. His passion is in understanding how learning is facilitated and supported via the use of computer mediated technologies

Sabrina Osso

CEO of OSSO SAFE
Sabrina Osso is Founder and CEO of OSSO SAFE. She is a speaker and consultant on promoting safety and preventing violence in the workplace, schools, and in places of residence. Her personal and professional experience with the subject allow her to bring a unique and holistic approach for employers, landlords, tenants, students, and teachers. She graduated from Montclair State University with a B.S. in Computer Science. Sabrina regularly takes Continued Education Courses at Rutgers University to keep abreast of issues associated with home violence and its effects in schools and workplaces, violence against women, impacts on children, and a multitude of other courses relating to the topic. She is also a professional dancer/actress who uses her performance talents to educate on the subject.

Sandy Checo

Sandy is a student at New Jersey City University studying Sociology, Women's & Gender Studies, and Entrepreneurship. Sandy spends her time volunteering with multiple non-profit organizations that share her common mission of empowering individuals through civic engagement, diversity training, and leadership development. She uses her numerous platforms to host conversations about social issues and effective ways to create change, while facilitating activities that foster personal growth and build community.

I am a physics/ atmospherics physics major I am a single mother of a beautiful 9 year old daughter I am a first responder and a city employee for Jersey City I a big supporter and owner of rescue pets I believe that if everyone takes the time to plant one good seed and care we can restore and heal our planet.
