Theme: And the solution is.....

Chosen by our TEDxYouth Club, the overarching idea that will drive our event this year is 'And the solution is.....'.

In a world of constantly sprouting and expanding problems, we will focus on the ways to finding achievable solutions. There are multiple lenses through which we can view this: music, art, science, ideologies, perspectives, creative solutions etc.

Please accept our invitation to join us in an event that celebrates problem-solving and encourages a pessimistic approach towards sustenance.

Daria Lara Nicotera

Student

Daria Nicotera is 16 years old and is currently in 10th grade. She arrived at BIS in 2009. At the time she was 7 years old and in 2nd grade. Daria was born in Leicester, England and moved to Germany in 2009. This (2018) is Daria’s 10th year in living in Germany. Daria is doing a TED talk synchronically with her best friend Sabrina Shih. The talk relates to manipulation and would like to present, 'a solution to manipulation'. This topic interests her as it is connected to the physiological aspect of humans and explores the way people think.

Jao-Yi Sabrina Shih

Student

Jao-Yi Sabrina Shih, born in Houston Texas on the 26th of April 2002, and has lived in Taiwan before moving to Germany in 2007. She is currently in grade 10. Sabrina has many hobbies, but her main ones are sports (swimming) and music. She has been participating in Jugend Musiziert competitions since 2017 and won third place in the national competition. Sabrina is doing a TED talk with Daria Nicotera about manipulation as the science of human psychology interests her deeply.

Oliver Luca Martino

Student

Oliver joined BIS in the fall of 2015. He is 13 and now in 8th grade. He has lived in Germany for 3 years, and before that lived in Italy. Oliver’s TED talk relates to his passion for renewable energy and environmentally friendly vehicles, and how electric cars might not be as environmentally friendly as you think.

Peter Pidopryhora

Student

Peter is 16 years old and is in currently in the eleventh grade. He has only recently joined BIS last year in August. He was born in the USA, Ohio and has lived in the Netherlands and Russia before moving to Germany 3 years ago. Peter likes the space program and is interested in astronomy. He wants to become a space engineer. Peter’s TED talk relates to the problem of 'culture loss'. He feels the planet is running out of the ability to support the luxurious lifestyles of people and hence feels the only plausible solution is moving out.

Sanjeev Srinivas

Student

Sanjeev is 12 years old and is currently reading in the 7th grade.He was born in Bonn and has been residing here ever since. He joined the school in EL 5. He enjoys drawing, cycling and doing Math. He has chosen to talk about the problem of technology addiction in teens and wishes to explore some solutions to it. He aims to resolve the problem with a scientific mindset.

Supratim Kundu

Student

Supratim Kundu is a 14 year old young Indian enthusiast who is enjoying his third year of learning experiences at BIS and the TedX Forum. His interest in science and technology urges him to employ scientific innovations in solving the most critical of global threats. He believes that good intention is the mother of all solutions.
