This event occurred on

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

She is outgoing, honest, and has an amazing sense of humor, which will all be showcased in her talk.

Caroline Kilgallen

Student
Caroline's passion for TEDx has grown since she gave her first talk two years ago as an eighth grader. In high school especially, students are aware of the importance of being a well rounded individual. In her talk, Caroline talks about the climb to being well rounded and its benefits. When Caroline is older, she wants to be a lawyer, which certainly suits her hardworking personality.

Christy Sieber

Student
In most cases, failure is presented in a negative light; however, Christy is determined to change this perspective. This is Christy's third TEDx talk, and here she will discuss the positive effects of failure. Christy is a junior whose involvement in Math League, the Lacrosse team, Soccer team, and Track team make her a competitive and self-driven individual.

Curran Stockton

Student
Curran, now a senior, is the founder of TEDxOakKnollSchool and this is her fifth TED talk. Curran noticed while writing her supplemental essays for college applications that leadership is a common denominator among all applications. Therefore, she wanted to explore the opposing role: the followers. Outside of TEDx, Curran is the Senior Class President, a member of the Ice Hockey team, a Seventh Grade Peer Leader, and a Writing Center tutor.

Emma Shirkey

Student
Emma is a senior and will be presenting for the third time at TEDxOakKnollSchool. She will discuss being undecided. Emma is on the Cross Country and Golf teams, she is part of FBLA, Litmag, and she participates in Bridges runs at Oak Knoll. Emma truly is an individual full of energy and happiness, making her a great addition to TEDxOakKnollSchool.

Isabelle Sykes

Student
This is sophomore Izzy's second year as a TEDx presenter, but third year as a member of TEDx. Izzy's fascination for music led her to ponder the evolution and journey music has endured and the effects of music on our lives. In addition to TEDx, Izzy is a goalie for the Field Hockey team and is a member of the Winter Track team.

Julianna Feit

Student
Sophomore Julianna will be giving her first TEDx talk on Science Fiction. Movies like Star Wars, Jurassic Park, and Alien are what make Sci-Fi Julianna's favorite film genre. Julianna is also a member of both the soccer and spring track teams and is involved in the school musical, LitMag, Math League, and is on the Creative Arts Council. Also, Julianna's favorite holiday is "Sneak a Zucchini Into Your Neighbor's Porch Day"!

Kaitlin Kramer

Student
Kaitlin will be making her TEDx debut talking about the effects technology has on our attention spans today. While Kaitlin was in the process of completing her homework, she discovered how difficult it can be at times to resist the temptations and distractions of technology. Kaitlin is a dedicated individual who is also a member of the Field Hockey and Track teams and FBLA.

Meghan Schlageter

Student
What if your eye turns purple? What if you are late for your final exam? What if you win the lottery? Senior Meghan was fascinated about why people spend so much time thinking about something that may never happen or exist. She explored the uncharted territory of "what if" in her third TEDx talk. Aside from TEDx, Meghan is on the Ice Hockey team, a part of the Forensics club, and is the stage manager for the Dance Concert.

Sabina Criqui

Student
Sabina's curiosity led her to ponder the importance of setting goals and one's journey for their future. She explored the outcomes setting goals has on an individual and the effects a goal has if it is not achieved. Sabina is involved in the Ski Club, Caring for Kids Club, and plays on the Soccer team.
