In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Borso Tall

Borso Tall is a human rights activist and masters student at the University of Glasgow. With two decades’ worth of experience in community service, she founded the Young Advocates for Human Rights (YAHR) network, which seeks to empower youths in her native Senegal and beyond.

Corien Staels

Corien Staels is a young Belgian entrepreneur living in Glasgow, bringing innovation to the world of wheelchairs. While her studies might have prepared her for a career in fashion, she has since found herself in the healthcare market, aiming to find solutions to age-old issues in the mobility industry.

Frank Quietly

Frank Quitely has garnered worldwide acclaim for drawing comics for Marvel and DC comics, bringing to life superheroes resident in Gotham, Metropolis, or the X-Mansion. Frank himself is firmly planted in his native Glasgow. Here he has studied and lectured at Glasgow School of Art, received an honorary doctorate from the University of Glasgow, and exhibited at the Hunterian as well as Kelvingrove Art Gallery.

Hussein El-Ajouz

In this talk, Hussein stresses the importance of stepping away from social media and taking a deep breath and pausing. It also emphasises the importance of controlling social media before it controls you and to find what makes you, you. It is the small things in life that could make all the difference in the future, which is why it is important to be aware and in control.

Jessica Argo

Dr Jessica Argo is a cellist and installation sound artist from from Aberdeen who gained her PhD and lectures at the Glasgow School of Art.

Kay Davidson

Kay Davidson is a fashion designer from Scotland who has worked with international brands and also supported some key British designers in her career. She created ASKAY Style to empower people through the clothes they wear whilst increasing awareness of sustainability and ethical issues in the fashion industry.

Kevin O'Dell

Kevin O’Dell is a professor of Behaviour Genetics at the University of Glasgow and an actor, comedian and works in popularising science.

Vicky Brock

Vicky Brock describes herself as a serial entrepreneur – named by Forbes & Bloomberg as one of the “Top 9 Female Tech CEOs to Watch” and by Computer Weekly as one of the “Top 50 Women in IT”. She was also recently named Scotland’s Most Inspiring Business Person of the Year at the Entrepreneurial Scotland Awards. She is currently sharing her experiences with her Entrepreneur Agony Aunt podcast and blog.
