In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Collage Dance Ensemble

Multicultural Dancers
The internationally acclaimed Collage is one of Boston’s advocates for multicultural collective expression. Exemplifying their mission to promote harmony between people from different cultural and social backgrounds, they integrate Eastern European traditional performance with modern Western techniques. Using music that makes people want to jump out of their seats and join the dance, the company showcases the beauty, energy, and passion of these neglected dance forms as well as the cultural heritage they represent.

Jessika Trancik

Energy Systems Scientist
Jessika Trancik is an Associate Professor of Energy Studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is also an external professor at the Santa Fe Institute. She received her BS in materials science and engineering from Cornell University and her PhD in materials science from the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. Before MIT, she spent several years at the Santa Fe Institute as an Omidyar Fellow, and at Columbia University as an Earth Institute Fellow, where her research focused on energy systems modeling. Her research group studies the dynamic costs and environmental impacts of energy technologies to inform technology design and policy.

Polina Anikeeva

Neural Nanotechnologist
Polina Anikeeva is an Associate Professor at MIT in Materials Science and Engineering and in Brain and Cognitive Sciences. Her Ph.D. thesis focused on physical properties and design of light emitting devices based on organic materials and nanoparticles, working under the supervision of Vladimir Bulovic in EECS. She previously held the Dean's Postdoctoral Fellowship, School of Medicine, Stanford and was in the group of Karl Deisseroth in the Department of Bioengineering. Her current research is focused on the development of optoelectronic and magnetic materials and devices for recording and modulating activity of neurons in the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral organs.
