In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Chris Womack

Mr. Christopher C. Womack has been the Executive Vice President and President of External Affairs of Southern Company since January 2009. Mr. Womack previously served as Executive Vice President of External Affairs of Georgia Power Company from March 2006 through December 2008 and Senior Vice President of Fossil and Hydro Generation and Senior Production Officer of Georgia Power Company from December 2001 to February 2006. Mr. Womack has held numerous executive and management positions, including the Company's Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Chief People Officer and Senior Vice President and Senior Production Officer of Southern Company Generation. Mr. Womack joined in 1988 as a governmental affairs representative for Alabama Power.

Jaleel White

Ranked #37 in VH1's list of the 100 Greatest Kid Stars. Jaleel Ahmad White is an American actor. In 1989, he was cast in the role of Steve Urkel on the sitcom Family Matters. Born on November 27, 1976 in Pasadena, California he is known for Family Matters (1989), Big Fat Liar (2002) and Sonic the Hedgehog (1993). Before auditioning for Steve Urkel on Family Matters (1989), he was looking for the classic nerd glasses (black, thin, with tape around the center) but had no luck. His father, a dentist, tossed him the glasses that he used to keep particles out of his eyes. Jaleel just figured that he would find different glasses at another time. The crew loved the look, so he kept them.

Lavell Yang Grant

Local hero Lavell Yang Grant grew up in Watts, CA as a product of his environment and the struggles that come with it. Now an influential leader at the Watts Empowerment Center spends his days mentoring youth giving them the guidance that he never received.

William Hung

He performed Ricky Martin's "She Bangs" at an American Idol audition, but did not get the cut. After this, he got a big recording contract, and is even more popular than some of the finalists of the third season of "American Idol". He performed a series of shows in Macau Casino and Hong-Kong, China in early August 2004. He also attempted to get his big break in cinema in China. His album, 'Inspiration', sold more than 100,000 copies by August 3rd, 2004.
