Alessandra Franco de Godoy Carvalhaes

Student
Alessandra is a 5th year student at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro. She is a very communicative student, with excellent critical thinking and a strong sense of justice, who is always attentive to the problems that afflict our society. In addition to her academic activities, she enjoys and practices numerous sports, such as soccer, gymnastics and tennis. Alessandra also has a great aptitude for arts and music. Her chosen theme for TEDxKids@PortoSeguroSchool addresses social differences and how to overcome them in order to have a better future.

Ana Carolina Fumagalli Guedes

Ana Carolina is a student of Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro and will turn 11 on the day of the TEDxKids presentation. She is a curious girl, and very attentive to what is going on around her. She has always enjoyed researching, experimenting and testing hypotheses. She reflects on the issues, forms her opinions and enjoys expressing them. Ana Carolina is also very sweet and sensitive to the feelings of others. She spontaneously proposed to speak about her concern for seniors: we need to pay more attention to older people and treat them with care and respect.

I am Ana Luiza. I am 11 years old and my birthday is on September 13th. I am a caring person and really like animals. That is why I will speak about the theme of "The trafficking of horns that are worth more than gold”. It really upsets me when I see newspapers articles about the rhinos becoming extinct because of their horn. I am curious and persistent in everything I do. I'm in 5th grade. I love to study, play with my friends, hang out with my dog Marrye, and talk; I also like to help people in need. I like sweets and many other Brazilian foods. My biggest dream is to become a great doctor, have a home outside Brazil and adopt a child from Africa. I'm working hard to achieve these dreams and many others.

Anna is 10 years old and was born in São Paulo. She is the youngest of three siblings. She is a very cheerful girl, who is also caring and responsible, with a great sense of justice. She loves animals, music, TV series, the beach and the pool. Ana also enjoys sports. She practices horseback riding, contemporary dance, slackline and is learning how to surf. She has always had an interest in social actions and likes to participate in programs such as TEDxKids.

Enzo is a 5th student at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro. He has only been at the school for three years and has adapted really well. Enzo finds it easy to make new friends and is a loyal friend himself. One of the greatest characteristics of his personality is curiosity, a true quest for knowledge. “We used to live in Rio, in the mountain region, where we had a house in the middle of a reserve," he said. That is why Enzo is enchanted by nature and by animals. At TEDxKids@PortoSeguroSchool, he will talk about the war between the two Koreas, its effects and consequences around the world.

Fabiana is a 5th year student at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro and enjoys reading and singing. She is very communicative and loves to talk to people about anything and everything, especially if it is related to food or recipes. Concerned about pollution and the incorrect disposal of recyclable products, she will speak at TEDxKids@PortoSeguroSchool about the importance of reusing our garbage and helping others.

Felipe Certain Dreyfuss

Felipe, a 5th year student at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro, is very fond of playing with his friends, cousins and siblings. He is a great cook and his specialty is to bake cakes for the whole family on weekends at his grandma's country house. In addition to cooking, Felipe is dedicated to making paintings that cover the walls of his house. He enjoys going out with his family to restaurants, especially to a good Japanese restaurant. At TEDxKids@PortoSeguroSchool, Felipe will talk about the importance of treating people with Down’s Syndrome the same way we would treat a non-disabled person, so they feel included. His presentation will also portray the success of people with Down's syndrome at work, in sports, and in social life, demonstrating that they are just as capable as everyone else.

Gabriel Grazia de Azambuja Villanova

Gabriel's father is from the south of Brazil and his mother is from Rio de Janeiro. He is 10 years old, was born in São Paulo and studies at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro. One of his passions is football and, especially, the relationships and interactions that this sport fosters and requires. He is a natural communicator with a great interest in human relations. As a result he has developed a taste for history and loves to read about war strategies, weaponry, governments and alliances - but always focused on peace. If there was ever a peace child, he is the one! At TEDxKids@PortoSeguroSchool, Gabriel will talk about overcoming challenges.

Guilherme is 11 years old and studies in the 5th year of the Community School of Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro, in Vila Andrade. He is admired by his classmates for the way he helps them on a daily basis, as well as for caring about valuing people's opinions. He is aware that we all are different and he believes that this characteristic makes us even more interesting. In his spare time, he likes to practice capoeira, play video games and draw. At TEDxKids@PortoSeguroSchool, Guilherme will speak about the Literary Dialogue, one of the successful educational initiatives of the Learning Community Project, which builds collective understanding and knowledge, by reading universal classical literature.

She loves to play sports and is very dedicated and determined in everything she does. At TEDxKids@PortoSeguroSchool, Isabela will talk about overcoming challenges through sports, showing how some people have transformed their lives by overcoming obstacles and challenges; she will also talk about her own achievements in overcoming barriers on the vault, which she practices in gymnastics.

I am Jamilly. I am 10 years old. I live with my father, my mother and my brother. I have a dog named Meg. I really like to play and study. I love to travel and go to the beach. I do not like it when I have nothing to do. I really like Brazilian food and am not very fond of Japanese food. I am a 5th year student at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro, and I study in the afternoon. In the morning, I attend a school that teaches sports, arts and circus. On Saturdays, I go to catechism classes. I'm a very sensitive girl. At home I'm a bit messy, but at school I try to be very organized. I'm very curious and I like all kinds of music. I consider myself hardworking and dedicated. I love animals! My dream is to be a pediatrician to help the children. I chose the theme "The internet in people's lives" because I am outraged when I see in the news that people have lost a great deal because of the internet, especially people who miss out on interacting with friends and relatives.

João Augusto Geraldo Correa

João Augusto is a 5th year student at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro. He is very affectionate, sensitive and loves to work with others. Persistent, he doesn't give up easily on his goals, even when he encounters difficulties. He likes games, computers and playing the clarinet. At TEDxKids@PortoSeguroSchool, João will present João Carlos Martins’ story of willpower and determination, and explain how he became one of the greatest musicians in the world.

João Pedro is 10 years old, very curious, reflective, responsible and always willing to help. He loves to spend time with his family and talk to people. In his spare time, he likes to visit new places, read, play sports and get together with friends and family members to play. He has noticed that in his generation the amount of outdoor play has decreased and the use of electronics as one of the main forms of entertainment has increased. As a result, João Pedro will talk about the many learning opportunities provided by different types of play.

Julia Fernandes Barbosa

Julia is 11 years old and a 5th year student of the Community School of Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro, in Vila Andrade. She is curious and very observant. In class, she is attentive and always surprises with an interesting question. She likes to play, run, mix colors and paint. On Sundays, she usually watches football with her father and goes to the stadium, whenever she can. Another thing Julia enjoys is watching "do-it-yourself” videos. At TEDxKids@PortoSeguroSchool, Julia will speak about Interactive Groups, one of the successful educational initiatives of the Community Learning Project, which is a form of class organization, with subgroups of students who are tutored by an adult – usually parents or school staff. The adults are volunteers who help to complete the tasks at hand and validate interpersonal relations.

“My name is Laura Leão Orfali and I'm 10 years old. I am cheerful and I study at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro. When I was little, I said I was going to be an astronaut. Sometimes I had some other ideas. One crazier than the next! I have already considered becoming a vet just because I like dogs. Ever since I was lttle, I have been drawing clothes, but I had never realized that. So I decided that being a stylist would be the perfect profession. Thinking about this and how people have been destroying the world, I have tried to find a way to help our planet…and I discovered sustainability. My theme is Sustainable Fashion. With my presentation I want to show people that clothing can help the world. For my presentation, I'll make a piece of clothing with sustainable materials!”

Lucas is 11 years old. He is cheerful, enjoys sports and plays water polo. Because of his affinity with sports, he will talk in his TEDxKids@PortoSeguroSchool presentation about how technology helps with the training of professional athletes and beginners.

Luiza Echeverria Pinho Macedo

Luiza is 10 years old and a very self-confident 5th year student at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro. She loves her big family and has cultivated friendships and autonomy since she was little. An athlete, she practices competitive swimming, tennis, volleyball and skating. She also has a talent for music and arts and began to experiment with these when she was little, together with her grandmother. Luiza also loves to dream and is very good at math. She has an innate exotic taste in food: she enjoys eating everything and has loved Japanese food ever since she was little. She also enjoys reading, watching movies and playing games. Influenced by her artistic and mathematical gifts, by parents and architects, and the dream of building a family home, she fell in love with the theme of sustainable architecture and the simple, balanced lifestyle that this subject represents.

I am a very interested and dedicated student and I like to participate in different challenges. My favorite subject is Mathematics. I love dogs, all dogs! I am very cheerful and I love being with my friends. My favorite weekend activity is going to the movies and eating popcorn. At home, my favorite hobby is playing Minecraft. I love to travel whenever I can. I'm very interested in electronics, especially in cell phones. At TEDxKids@PortoSeguroSchool I will talk about making conscious choices when we buy a new phone, instead of just buying on impulse.”

Manuela Staciarini Pereira de Almeida

Manuela is a 10-year old girl and a 5th year student at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro. She loves to experiment, test slimes, read books, play the guitar and ride her bike in the park. Her favorite animal is the koala. Her dream is to see one in real life, up close! She also likes to travel to meet different people and get to know places, because she always learns new things. Friends and family are always by her side, at every moment! Manuela would like the planet to be a fairer and more preserved place, with more conscientious people. At TEDxKids@PortoSeguroSchool, Manuela will talk about sustainability and creativity.

Marcos Dunker Lopes

Marcos is 10 years old and a 5th year student at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro. He is curious and creative, transforming a simple game into a rich experience. The student is able to assemble a robot by attaching a toothpick to a bottle cap. When he grows up he wants to be a scientist. Marcos divides his time between many multidisciplinary activities, including scouting, piano, guitar, robotics, athletics and karate, a sport in which he holds a green belt. At TEDxKids@PortoSeguroSchool, Marcos will talk about cities, science, technology and transportation.

Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Souza

Maria Eduarda (our Duda) is a very special child. In addition to being very intelligent, she has a big heart, a sense of justice and a great entrepreneurial spirit. For TEDx, she has thought of a current topic that focuses on the attributes of technology, design, and entertainment: Digital media. In her studies, she discovered that technology helps people communicate better and benefits our environment by saving paper and natural resources. But like everything in life, there are two sides. She is also concerned about the overuse of digital media, leaving us with the message that anything in excess, no matter how good it may be, can be harmful to us.

Marina is a child who is very aware of everything that happens around her. She is very percepctive and has a different point of view on various subjects. She seeks to observe people and the environment, and delves deeper into the issues before expressing her opinions. She is extremely sincere, profound and transparent in her positions, trying to make her views clear whenever questioned. She has been a full-time student at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro since the first grade. She identifies with the school’s values and methodology. She is an excellent student, who requires little supervision to complete her tasks. She likes to travel, discovering new places and cultures. She enjoys eating well, staying at home and learning new things. She plans on being a doctor and studying abroad. She is a beautiful child, inside and out. Different, intelligent and charming! Max is a 5th year student in the German school program. He has a keen interest in foreign languages, enjoys sports, cooking and culture. He is curious and always wants to know more. He is aware of the needs of the planet, of nature and the animals. Max impresses people with his intelligence and debating skills. He doesn't like conflict between friends and peers, and is always the peacemaker. He respects people and demands respect, including for animals, which is also the topic of his TEDxKids@PortoSeguroSchool presentation.

Milan Tvrzsky de Gouvêa

Milan was born on Folklore Day in 2007, and ever since then he has enjoyed the magical world of stories and flashed his captivating smile. He has thought of becoming a mayor to repair the holes in the São Paulo streets. However, upon further reflection, he realized that he wants to dedicate himself to the world of arts, words, cinema, painting, tireless historical research and the promotion of culture. At the TEDxKids@PortoSeguroSchool event, Milan wants to share the magic of Charles Chaplin's cinema and show that to create a better world all we need is to get people to smile.

Oliver is a 9-year old boy who is a 5th year student. He likes to play with friends, never alone. His favorite games include skill-based and strategy games. He is also enjoys working in groups. Oliver likes everything to be organized. For example, when he plays dodgeball, the two teams are separated by a line in the middle. If that line is crooked, he feels uncomfortable. He has a sense of humor and amuses himself when people say or do funny things. He is also concerned about social inequality and will present at TEDxKids@PortoSeguroSchool his proposal for helping the needy.

Olívia is 10 years old and a 5th year student at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro. Joyful and affectionate, in her spare time she likes to play with her friends, dance, go to the movies, and spend time with her parents, her twin sister, Laura, and her older sister, Julia. She loves brownies and Chinese food. Her favorite subjects are Science and History. She is a dedicated and sensitive student, who cares greatly about the well-being of people and animals. She hopes for a world in which everyone can live in harmony regardless of their differences, whatever they may be: cultural, moral or ideological. At TEDxKids@PortoSeguroSchool, Olívia will showcase creative alternatives to encourage all people, especially children, to learn to respect cultural diversity.

Paulo Nathan Sepúlveda Teixeira is a junior high school student and OBI (bronze), OBR (gold) and OBA (gold) medalist. For some time he has been developing projects related to the programming and development of games. This year, at FEBRACE, it won the Paulista Museum Award from USP with the "Creative Handbook of Games for Young People in a Situation of Social Vulnerability" and at MOP, 3rd place in the Engineering category with the "Sustainable, Technological and Safe Bamboo Bike ".

Pedro Adler Padula

“Hello, I am Pedro, better known as Padula, which is not only my nickname but also my father's last name. I am 10 years old and a 5th year student at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro, at the Morumbi Campus. I study in the morning. I am very interested and perceptive; I always like to learn. When I was little, I was very shy. Over time and with the support of those who love me, I have lost that extreme shyness and am much happier today. I have many friends, and a very close-knit loving family. I love outdoor sports, getting in touch with nature and animals. That is one of the reasons why I chose my subject; when observing nature, I noticed that everything is used and reused; so why not do this with our trash as well?”

Rafael Kesselring Marchi

Rafael is 11 years old and a 5th year student at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro. He is a studious and his favorite subjects are Mathematics and Sciences. He likes to read, especially mystery and adventure books and comics. He also loves to play with friends, travel, see new places and play video games. Ever since he was a little boy, he has been practicing water sports in reservoirs, lakes and rivers. He learned to sail boats in the Optmist category, in the Guarapiranga Reservoir. He also practices rowing and stand-up paddle. He therefore has a great interest in the environment and is concerned about the pollution and degradation of oceans and rivers. At TEDxKids@PortoSeguroSchool, he will talk about the Pinheiros River, its importance to the city and the issue of pollution, presenting ideas and suggestions for reducing it.

Renato Intelizano Fineto

Renato is a 5th year student at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro. From a very early age he has been a strong communicator. Passionate about old records, cinema and the universe of superheroes, he is a boy who pays close attention to his environment. He always seeks to understand and analyze the subjects that are part of his daily life. To demonstrate his great interest in human issues, culture and the behavior of countries around the world, his talk at TEDxKids will discuss how gender inequality can influence social behaviors, in order to understand how machismo still plays a major role in this generation.

Ricardo Cecarello Fraia

Ricardo (his friends call him Fraia) is 10 years old and a 5th year student at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro. He is a calm and cheerful boy. He is very communicative and likes to make friends. In addition, he loves sports: he practices swimming, taekwondo, football and horseback riding. Ever since he was little, animals have been an part of his life. That is one of the reasons why he fell in love with horseback riding, which he has been doing since he was 3 years old. Very concerned about the welfare of people and animals, Ricardo chose to approach the topic of Horse Therapy in TEDxKids@PortoSeguroSchool, defending its importance for people with special needs who can greatly benefit from this treatment. He believes that the world would be a better place if all people, especially those with the least amount of financial resources, could have access to horse therapy to improve their quality of life.

Ricardo is a 10-year old boy who lives with his parents, his 8-year old sister, and his two cats. Since childhood, he has always been very curious about everything and everyone. He is a dear friend and is known for his kindness. He loves mountains, Japanese food, playing with friends and with his Xbox, of course. When he grows up he wants to be a scientist or a doctor to discover the cure for diseases that affect large populations. He chose the theme “Rio Pinheiros” out of curiosity when he saw a sign at a leisure club. The sign said the following: “Here flowed the Pinheiros River”. He learned a lot during his research! And how we have to KNOW SOMETHING TO PROTECT IT. Now he wants to share his ideas with the world

Saskia is a 10-year old girl and a student at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro. She likes to debate with people, read books and eat pasta. She is very stubborn, and worries about the environment and the scarcity of natural resources. She is always trying to find sustainable alternatives for her games and activities. At TEDxKids@PortoSeguroSchool, Saskia will advocate for an alternative form of energy production and underline its importance for addressing the depletion of our natural resources.

Sophia Bello Rodrigues

Sophia is 10 years old and a 5th year student at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro. Sophi, as she is known, is a charming, extremely sensitive and loving child, and an excellent friend. Always concerned about people's feelings, she looks for the best way to make those around her feel cared for. She knows that everyone has to be loved and cared for, and that exclusion has never been an alternative. She likes to read and try new things. She is a curious person, who is interested in new experiences. Sophi loves being with family and friends. Lately, she's has been enjoying her violin lessons. She has her feet planted firmly on the ground while keeping her eyes on the stars! Her contribution to TEDxKids@PortoSeguroSchool will be on the topic of Fear. Shal we reflect on this?

Very responsible, lively and curious about anything she encounters, Sophie always wants to know more about the world and how to enjoy every little bit she sees, sharing her new discoveries and inventions. Worried about the future, she wants people to be happy with things and have a more simple attitude. Deep in her heart, Sophie feels that the world will never say no, because it is amazing. She knows she can do so much more. We just have to believe in it and each one do our part. At TEDxKids@PortoSeguroSchool, Sophie will talk about recycling waste by using creativity to create unusual art. This allows each person to exercise their creative and conscious choice.

Victoria is 9 years old and a 5th year student at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro. She is extroverted, affectionate and very cheerful. She loves music, dancing and playing the piano. At TEDxKids@PortoSeguroSchool, Victoria will talk about a simple and magical recipe that can change the world and that everyone has access to, as it is an inexhaustible resource: love, which is a great tool. With love, all social classes can transform a world of war and selfishness into a world full of understanding and compassion.
