Our conference is carefully designed to provide a stage to whom are interested and dedicated to develop educational experience in Doha. In the spirit of TEDx events, we look forward to feature ideas worth spreading from all over our local community. However, in TEDxAlDafnaED conference the scope of the ideas is focused in education and its reflection on the community. Our speakers will discuss several education’s related issues, present creative solutions, deliver non-traditional lessons, and share thoughts about the future of education. Meanwhile, our audience is composed of university students, educators, and individuals who show interest in developing and enhancing the educational experience.

AlJawhara Al-Thani

School Culture Coordinator - Qatar Foundation
After graduating with a Master’s degree in Sociology of Education and Cultural Studies from New York University, AlJawhara joined Qatar Foundation’s Pre-University Education Office. During her first year at work she realized that there was a pressing need to address the social, emotional and cultural climate of the schools and reconnect them to the context in which they operate. AlJawhara helped establish the position of School Culture Coordinator, which she currently holds, and works to develop student and teacher understanding of the importance of community and culture in the cultivation of tomorrow’s leaders.

Dr. Khaled Shaaban

Associate Professor of Civil Engineering – Qatar University
Dr. Shaaban holds a Ph.D. degree in Transportation Engineering and is currently an associate professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Qatar University. Before joining QU, he served as an adjunct professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Central Florida for five years where he taught graduate and undergraduate courses in transportation planning; and traffic and highway engineering. Dr. Khaled has received the Teaching Excellence Award from Qatar University in 2013.

Dr. Mohammed Alsayrafi

General Manager - Anti-Doping Lab Qatar
Dr. Mohammed has been the General Manager for Anti-Doping Lab Qatar since June 2011. Prior to this, he served as the Project Executive Director from 2008 to 2011. Away from Anti-Doping Lab Qatar he has a number of advisory roles on various sports & environmental boards. Dr. Mohammed obtained his PhD in biochemistry from King’s College London.

Habes Howail

Head of External Relations - Qatar Foundation
Habes has been the Head of External Relations for Qatar foundation since July, 2016. Prior to this, he served as Head of External Relations for Teach For Qatar from 2013 - 2015. Away from QF and TFQ he has a Global Shaper at the world economic forum and Candidate for the advisory council (Impact and Collaboration Council) at the World Economic Forum and he was a speaker at TEDxQatarUniveristy 2014. Habes obtained his MA Educational Planning, Economics and International Development from UCL Institute of Education and a Bachelor Degree of Art in Policy Planning and Development with concentration in Urban Planning from Qatar University.

Ihssen Badr

Educator & Founder - International Leaders Preschool Qatar
Ihssen has been in the field of educational leadership for more than 14 years. She started up many international schools such as the International Leaders Preschool Qatar, and Encyclopedic Child International Preschool. As a Talent Transformation Expert & Coach, Ihssen's dynamic leadership career spans more than three countries including Tunisia, Canada and Qatar. She held the position of the Academic Consultant of the International Preschool Curriculum (IPC) in Qatar for five years and currently she is living in Canada. Her commitment to education improvement and her researches in linguistics, holistic education & mental health came up together with her strategies to empower leaders in business, education and society via training, coaching and consultancy.

Khalid Yassin

Training & Support Manager - Teach For Qatar
Khalid currently manages the “Recruitment, Selection and Matriculation” and “Training and Support” departments at Teach For Qatar where his main focus is identifying and attracting highly qualified and motivated candidates to join TFQ’s two-year Fellowship, known as the Leadership Journey. Khalid is passionate about teaching, and enjoyed the many years he spent as a Mathematics teacher impacting student learning and contributing to his peer’s development as an Education Technology Specialist where he worked with teachers on utilizing technology in their classrooms to enhance learning. Khalid earned his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Beirut Arab University, and an MBA from Arts, Science, and Technology University in Lebanon. Khalid has a desire to learn, share ideas, and likes to connect with educators from all over the world to discuss and share valuable experiences.

Maryam Ibrahim Al-Mansoori

Chief Officer-Corporate Planning & Support - Msheireb Properties
Maryam is the Chief Officer-Planning and Support at Msheireb Properties and a management consultant, has worked at several senior managerial positions in the giants of numerous industries, enriching her with a profound understanding of the corporate culture. She has, during the span of her impressive career, excelled professionally, leading strategic projects such as design of new corporate governance framework, organization restructuring, and business process improvements, to name a few. Her portfolio is an engaging spectrum ranging from company-wide strategy, corporate planning, quality and excellence, risk management, to human resources, and information technology. Maryam holds an Executive MBA from HEC Paris and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science at Qatar University. In addition, Maryam is professionally certified in Corporate Governance from INSEAD Business School; qualified in Human Resources and had held PHR Certification from the Society of Human Resource Manageme

Nayef Al-Ibrahim

Founding Partner and CEO - ibTECHar Digital Solutions
An entrepreneur who is passionate about education, where he has become the Founding partner and CEO of ibTECHar Digital Solutions since 2015. ibTECHar is a startup based in Qatar that designs educational experiences using the latest Technology. One of the educational programs of ibTECHar is Sanea Program. Sanea focuses on raising the awareness of making and discovery among local communities. Prior to this, he served as a Project Manager at Msherieb Properties for four years. Nayef is well known for his passion toward education and entrepreneurship. His strength in project management gave him a competitive advantage in transferring ideas into realty people can witness its impact on human development. Nayef holds an MBA from the American University in the Emirates and a Bachelor in Civil Engineering from Qatar University.

Sam Abrams

Alternative Learning Program Coordinator
Sam has worked and lived in Qatar since August 2014. His current role is Alternative and Personalized learning coordinator for Qatar Foundation at Awsaj Academy. Sam has been in education since 2001, while his first job was creating and running a studies skills class before he graduated college for the local high school. Sam graduated from Brigham Young University in 2005 with a degree in Mathematics Teaching. He has consistently sought to teach in locations that build strong relationships with students and have a component of problem-based teaching strategies. Sam received his Masters in Educational Leadership from Eastern Washington University in 2012. Sam has since developed and implemented the first personalized learning program for Qatar Foundation. The program is called Prime. From his efforts he was awarded the Best Education Initiative for Qatar Foundation in the school year 2016-17.
