Theme: new traditions

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Trauma Surgeon

A Trauma Surgeon, Head of Surgery Department at SQU. Graduated from SQU college of Medicine in 1997 then went to Canada for surgical training at McGill University and the University of British Columbia 2000-2007. He is also the chairman of the General Surgery residency training program in the Oman Medical Specialty Board. He believes in empowering people around him and in capacity building because the best resource in any society is the human resource.

Hatim grew up watching his brothers playing video games and with time he realized his passion for the industry. Back in 2012, he started Omani Gamerz, a website dedicated to hardcore gamers in Oman and the region. Their podcast, a weekly radio show on the internet, has racked up over 50k listens from all over the MENA region. Their mission is to prove that gaming is an industry that should not be underestimated and that it could drive the economy of countries in Oman and the Arab World.
