Theme: Understanding The BOX

All the problems faced by people in the different walks of life is analogous with the problem of living in a box. As a child, when shown a box and asked how many faces does it have, we always replied with the one face that was visible to us through our perspective. But we then learnt that a box in fact consists of not one, but six sides, may open and close and that the box itself comes with its own environment. This gave us a wider perspective and a better understanding of the box as a whole.

We at TEDxVIT believe that the definition of success varies from person to person and that there is no common parameter by which we can compare the journey and hard work of one man to another. Our speakers will speak on the paths they chose and about all that they put in so as to achieve what they have. We hope that these talks leave the audience with a mind open enough to perceive the different aspects through which the solution to a problem can be approached and not to be blindsided by the one face of the box that is visible to us.

Indian Actress

She was a part of the Maharashtra Times contest – Shravan Queen & was a finalist in 2010, during which she was noted as a model and actress. Prior to that, she was working as an air hostess with Kingfisher Airlines for 4 years. In 2016, she was seen in Devyani on Star Pravah and later in the role of Monika in Khulta kali Khulena on Zee Marathi. One of her most popular roles till date was as Mukta in the serial Star Pravah’s Lagori Maitri Returns, was widely applauded by the audience. She was part of projects like CID as lead & the protagonist of the web series Moving Out, The first ever Marathi web series. She has also launched a fashion brand that sells sarees titled ‘Tejadnya’ with fellow actress Tejaswini Pandit in 2015.

A Parle Tilak Vidyalaya Marathi medium school student, Aditi knew from her 4th grade what she wanted to grow up to be - A Pilot. As her luck would have it, Mumbai University started their Bsc aviation course and Aditi was on their very second batch She did her flying and graduation together and has now been flying B737 for the past 11 years. She has been flying high and continues to do so.

A monk, a Life coach & an inspirational speaker

After a B.Tech degree at IIT Mumbai and a Master’s degree (Quantum physics) at Univ. of Illinois Chicago, he decided to be a Life Coach & Resident Monk at ISKCON Chowpatty. There, he is part of the Leadership Training Academy and also Alumni Student's Mentorship Program (ASMP) at IIT Bombay.

Brijesh Singh

Cop by day, author by night, Brijesh Singh wears multiple hats. He started as an engineer before joining the coveted Indian Police Service, and now patrols the Internet as the head of cyber police, and also simultaneously handles the public relations department of the Maharashtra government. An avid reader of philosophy and Indology, he indulges in Western and Indian classical music too. Author of the thriller 'Quantum siege' and co-author of 'Dangerous Minds', (Penguin Publication) he also contributes to films and web series. When not writing, you can find him in the kitchen, cooking for his lovely wife, two daughters, his friends and the cat.

Dr. Komal Rao

Jeet Kune Do Instructor

Dr. Komal Rao is a Jeet Kune Do Instructor and one of the few women mixed martial arts competitors from India. She is also one of the few women in the world to have fought a male in a Pro MMA event. She began her study of Jeet Kune Do under Seema Rao and Deepak Rao, pioneer of JKD in India and has certified Full Instructor under them. She was certified as Full Instructor by Richard Bustillo, well known original student of Bruce Lee, making her one of the handful women Instructors in the world. She is a Fifth degree Blackbelt under UCCA organization.

Matcheswalla started the Masina Hospital’s Department of Psychiatry Set in a sylvan surrounding in the heart of Mumbai, today it is one of the finest psychiatric units in the country working in the private sector offering world-class psychiatric services and therapies. Currently the Chairman of - Specialty section (Forensic Psychiatry) of the Indian Psychiatric Society, and Chairman of the Academy of Medical Specialties, Indian Medical Association, Mumbai.

Recently he has lent his voice for a song TUM JO MILE from the movie Saansein-the last breath, starring Rajneesh Duggal & Sonarika Bhadoria. Currently setup in Mumbai, they have done some critically acclaimed artworks in central railway and certain buildings of the metropolitan. He also teaches painting to kids and has helped them revamp the walls of their schools.
