Theme: Bud in the Mud

The process of one plant turning from a bud into the mud reflects the basic law of things, which contains the inner relation of things reinforcing each other, and also shows people the way of co-existence of things.
植物从芽到泥的过程折射了事物运行的基本规律，其中包含事物相生相克的内在关系，同时又向人们展示了破立共生的生存之道。
我们希望用”泥中之芽”抓住、领会、体味古老与新生之间的统一关系。在“泥中之芽”，我们会讨论与艺术、创新、教育这样栖身于每个人生活的话题，试图理解”泥中之芽”基本涵义。

Hawkeye Watkins

He was raised in Alaska. After high school, he hitch-hiked around the US for nine months, encountering many splendid things. Hawkeye enlisted in the military, enduring many splendid things. He served 10 years as Airborne Infantry - Recon; a Medic; and a Journalist. Hawkeye spent many years as a computer Network Engineer, Technical Editor, and Technical Writer at companies such as CompuCom and Microsoft, enhancing many splendid things. Hawkeye then pursued his passion for Massage Therapy as a professional Massage Therapist for many years, enjoying many splendid things. He now teaches English in China, encouraging many splendid things.

Ruomei Hu 胡若玫

During the journey, she volunteered in Din Dang Natural Building Center Project, learning ancient building technology together with life philology. She also made drawings in the Angkor wat, taught painting lessons in the village of Da Nang and so forth. After the journey, she came back to China and rebuilt herself, working with emerging entrepreneurs and scientists in Zhongguancun Science Park.

She truly discovered her passion for teaching after she taught her first English class to college freshmen as a teaching associate in 2011 at the age of 21. After graduating in the top 1% of her class, with a Bachelor's in English and Literature, and a Master's in English (Teaching English as a Second Language), she packed her bags and moved to China. She has now been teaching for almost a decade and inspired by the dedication of her students, she continues to hold a strong commitment to student development and a relentless passion for the learning experience, inside and outside the classroom.

Tong zhe, ( born 8 May 1987), comes from Xiamen, Fujian, China. At the age of 24,designated as Mr.MEGA by ENS Paris. At the age of 25, founding One-Man University, the first Chinese online university. One-Man University is committed to making the most of the power of “zero marginal cost” to provide free and qualified online learning platform for the people. Since One-Man University is can lower the threshold of Chinese education, thus it can improve the general educational level of the China.

Zhuxuan Zhao 赵竹轩

She is an experienced translator/interpreter. She is a conference interpreter accredited with the European Union, and part-time translator/interpreter engaged with the EU Delegation to China; she is the winner of the 1st prize in the National Semi-Final, and 2nd prize in the National Final of the 2014 “Global Tone Cup” National Interpreting Contest, and winner of the 1st prize of the 2011 “CIBN Cup” National English Hosting Competition. Her translated works include Nanjing Cloud-pattern Brocade, published in 2017 by New Classic Press, UK. Currently a lecturer teaching Simultaneous Interpreting, English for Graduate Students, and Public Speaking at the Department of Foreign Languages at University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, she also provides customized language workshops for various government agencies, institutions and businesses.
