Theme: Illusions and Solutions

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDxIIITDMJabalpur is a student-led, collaborative experience to inspire innovative thinking and purposeful citizenship. TEDx conferences are an attempt to bring together world's leading thinkers and doers to share ideas that matter, from a variety of disciplines. For the year 2017, the chapter proudly presents 'Illusions and Solutions' as the central theme, and invites you to participate in perceiving this abstract phrase from your view.

If complexity leads to illusions, then does it follow for the rapid change that the world needs, our new solutions require to be smart, and simple too? Whilst smart solutions may be complex, can we understand the nature of illusions to an extent so as to frame complex solutions into simple illusions? Can we use illusions to our own good?
Finding your individuality might be the solution to the illusion that is society. But, isn't our present individuality moulded by our peer culture, family expectations, religious beliefs, and even the over-loaded world of literature, where we find ourselves, often, roaming about without much curiosity subsiding the purpose of reading! Terence McKenna rightly pointed the exclusion of the right to experiment with your own consciousness from the Declaration of Independence. If understanding humans is like travelling in neurons in an ever-entangled network of nerves. then understanding human society, or any given civilisation itself, is a space ride with undefined boundaries and lots of un-announced asteroids in the face.
Taking case studies of illusions in Indian society means bringing more contrast, saturation, exposure, and surprisingly sometimes even harmony, in the picture!
This year, we want to explore the various ways our society is disillusioned by systems or simply notions, that surround us. We intend to explore people's work that has helped in diagnosing the problems we are facing today.

TEDxIIITDMJabalpur invites you to immerse in the experience, with live talks, curated TED talks, live musical entertainment, informal conversation sessions with speakers, and an uphill journey of awe and inspiration.
