In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Carlos Budding

Born in Argentina, moved to the U.S. at the age of 12. After his graduate studies at the only American university that provides a liberal arts degree for deaf students, he taught English to deaf students. Now, he teaches English and Spanish in Japan, at Akita International University.

Yuriko Suzuki

A mother, wife, and owner of "Shun-sai Miso Cha ya Kurao" –– a restaurant in Masado-city, Akita Prefecture. Known for her additives-free, texture-rich traditional cuisines, she speciallizes in cuisine that utilize rice-malts.
