In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Adham Hamshary

Adham is a petroleum engineer, travel blogger, and a researcher. In 2012, he graduated from the British University in Egypt, where he then worked as a research assistant at the American University in Cairo, and is currently doing his masters in engineering. Adham is passionate for travelling, talking about his adventures through his “Around the World” travelling blog. He will be sharing with us his unexpected perspective of travelling through his wide experience.

Ahmed Fahmy

He is an Egyptian lecturer in the psychology department of the Alexandria faculty of arts, and part time clinical psychologist in the project of integral protection of juvenile detainees. He majored in development psychology (childhood, adolescence and adulthood) and he has about 12 years of professional and academic experience in this field. He’ll be throwing some light on some of the taboos and misunderstood concepts of psychology in our society, which indeed is something we all need to hear.

Ahmed Kai

His name is Ahmed Mahmoud Mohamed but you can call him Ahmed Kai. He studies engineering at the Alexandria University electrical department. He started yoyo in 2011 thanks to an Anime series called “Blazing teens”, he checked Youtube to learn tricks and master them, and since then he’s been part of the yoyo community. He’s now 21 years old and does not believe that yoyos are toys for kids as many people see all over the World. He believes it’s a sport, and source of entertainment as well it helps a lot with being more creative because you almost do tricks of your own but only inspired by other yoyoers. His dream is mixing electric engineering with toys to make them much more beneficial and for kids.

Hadeer Mustafa

Hadeer is singer and an undergraduate student of physical therapy at Kafr El-Sheikh University. She started singing at a young age, finding herself attracted to a unique genre that many of us aren’t familiar with.

Hossam Heikal

Is considered one of Egypt’s most influential social figures where his success story has helped in reformulating the conception of success. Hossam’s success goes back to his educational background where he received a commonly widespread low quality of education that was not fixed equation. By the 29, Hossam managed to reach several managerial positions in one of the largest real estate corporation in Egypt and Middle East In addition to working as a sales and marketing consultant to other several entities. Through dedication and hard work, Hossam focused on developing his professional and academic skills where he now holds several diplomas in fields Marketing, institutional management and career coaching, Besides, founding his own initiative under the name of (Ayel Yesharaf) that mainly focuses’ on developing the skills of students in Egyptian universities where he expanded to reach 80% of the Egyptian governorates in less than a year to be trainer who reaches this record in this short period of time.

Kareem Gamal

Kareem is an undergraduate engineering student at the naval architecture and marine engineering department, Alexandria University. He graduated secondary school in 2016 in Victoria College and has been an active volunteer in multiple NGOs since 2011, mostly working in public relations. Kareem will shed a light on an unfamiliar issue that many of us are unaware of its dangers and impact on society through his knowledge and personal experience.

Maha Mohamed

Maha is an undergraduate at faculty of arts, mass communication department, Alexandria University. She is an active civil-work volunteer and is currently studying public relations. Founded by Maha, project “No Color” discusses discrimination and Egyptian standards of beauty. She also founded “Art Has No Place” for artists who remain unheard due to constant centralization. Maha likes discussing issues that people seldom take real action towards. She also believes that people will often appreciate artistic perspectives more than direct call-to-appreciate artistic perspective more than direct call-to-action.

Mahmoud Abdelhay

Mahmoud is an undergraduate student at nuclear and radiation engineering department, Alexandria University. In summer 2017, he worked as an intern and research assistant at CERN, Switzerland and also graduated from school of Plasma Physics in Paris, France. He won 1st place in NASA Space Apps Alexandria 2017 by leading a team that worked on radioactivity detector designed for airplanes flying near the Earth poles. He is also interested in science communication, working on a project for delivering academic and simplified scientific content in Arabic.

Mo'men Tamer

Mo’men is a secondary school student. He started singing at the age of twelve, performing live at many TV shows and cultural centers such as Sa’iet El-Sawi.

Moatassem Abdelhaleem

He’s an embedded systems engineer studying computer and communications at faculty of engineering Alexandria University. He won first place in the ROV’17 local competition, participating as an embedded systems engineer and motion control team member. He also won second place in the regional and is an international gROVer award winner. Moatassem will talk about the tool we all have but never use to fight life back in its own way. He believes that learning to use this tool will not only make solving our problems easier but will also make exchanging ideas a lot smoother.

Mohamed Hassan

Hassan is a life-long learner. He graduated school in 2015, a few years after spending nights and weekends studying and working on project foe struggling friends, colleagues, and their referrals while building different skills in various fields. He’s currently working in networking and studying server administration. Hassan worked as a web developer, front-end developer, Android developer, business developer and marketing/sales strategist, graphic designer, brand identity developer, medical representative, blog developer and content creator …. And he (obviously!) has much to tell us!

Mohamed Mubarak

Mubarak is physician who was elected president of “the Medical Student’s Union”. He also held the position of the president of the team work committee in Alexandria University student’s union. He was a speaker in Alexandria Creativity Center and gave monthly lectures on personal growth or over a year. He is one of the founders of the league of young masters program in Alexandria library and he has presented over a hundred presentation over the course of ten years.

Mohamed & Ahmed Essam

Ahmed & Mohamed are undergraduate students studying engineering and commerce respectively. They played music in many occasions, starting from small gatherings in “Institut francais d’Egypte a Alexandria” to conferences in Bibliotheca Alexandria and also graduation ceremonies. Their style preference is playing oriental music with western instruments, through which they bring global peace to the people’s hearts.

Paranoia El-E’eila El-Malka

Paranoia El-E’eila El-Malka is a team for artistic and theatrical performances. They started together in 2015 as a group of young people who believe in performing art of great value and different perspectives, discussing society’s social issues and shedding some light over its solutions.

Shady Mustafa

Shady is an astronomy enthusiast, active volunteer and an aspiring astrophysicist. At the 2nd grade of secondary school Shady is able to reach for his passion by volunteering at the Planetarium Science Center in Bibliotheca Alexandria. He is also a member of the Egyptian Society for Astronomy in Alexandria. Trying to share his passion with the people, Shady is hosting a science communication program for amateur astronomers and astronomy lovers called “El-Koon Show”. Other than his love for astronomy, Shady also loves programming and robotics; he was able create a robot for saving victims under structural collapses. He is also a member of the Egyptian Inventors Association. Shady is one of our speakers for this year and we can’t wait to hear what he has to say.

TAWAN Band

Tawaan is an Experimental Rock band formed by four high school students in the year 2015 in Alexandria, Egypt. Mostly influenced by the famous “Radiohead”, they focus on delivering a unique feel along with every album/EP. The word Tawaan means delay in Arabic (توان) reflecting the continuous use of echo effects in their music. After composing their first five tracks, they decided to release their “least favorite” track “ياريت” (meaning “I hope” or “hopefully”) as their very first, on the 15th of December 2015 Surprisingly this “least favorite” track of theirs, has reached a remarkable number of over 30,000 plays today. It was not more than a year before they decided to record the rest of the 4 tracks, which we now know of as the “صوت موجي العالي” EP. Tawaan released each of the rest of the four tracks throughout the month December a year after their first appearance, releasing one track every Monday, since Mondays have a terrible reputation looking to reach the minds of many.
