In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Andrés Hermida

18-year-old Andrés Hermida’s early passions were film, poetry, theater, music, photography, social services and art. He attended film school in his freshman year of high school which led to the participation of other thirteen film project credits. He has his own film club to watch movies and a poetry club.

Elena Quintero

For 17-year-old Elena Quintero, music has always been important to her, as she started playing guitar, an activity she really enjoys, when she was thirteen-years-old and studied two semesters of classical guitar and music theory at Universidad del Valle.

Esteban Silva

17-year-old Esteban Silva enjoys tennis and participating in tournaments and ultimately plans on attending university in the United States. One of the many things he enjoys is helping others achieve or fulfill their expectations; either by explaining something to them or just helping them by ensuring they have a pleasant time.

Maria Antonia Rojas

17-year-old Maria Antonia Rojas is a professional procrastinator; yet, she is organized with her time and very committed to her academic and service activities. She also enjoys watching movies, participating in model United Nations, and spending time with her family.

Marian Antonia Mosquera

17-year-old Maria Antonia Mosquera grew up in Colombia and is interested in modeling and fashion. She has seen first-hand the misconceptions and assumptions of women in Latin America and hopes to change those ideas through education.

Nicholas Nasser

17-year-old Nicholas Nasser was born in New York City, but moved to Colombia for a year abroad. An astute observer of popular culture and social media, Nick viewed the last election in the United States from a distance, being able to offer objective and interesting insights on the topic.

Nick Bleske

17-year-old Nick Bleske attends Colegio Bolívar school in Cali, Colombia as a junior, but has also lived around the world. An avid traveler He has lived in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan and the United States, and recognizes the differences between cultures and systems in society.

Pablo Mena

17-year-old Pablo Mena has always passionate about sports and debates, receiving accolades for both. Always focused on improving himself and others around him, Pablo is highly interested in economic and business careers and hopes to someday start his own business.

Santiago Celis

17-year-old Santiago Celis was born in Neiva, Colombia and is currently a junior in Colegio Bolivar in Cali, Colombia. He feels a great connection to medicine due to his parents and his family, especially medicine centered around cardiothoracic surgery. Santiago enjoys working with social programs that tend to help those in need and hopes to do something someday that will change medicine and the world around him.

Sofia Murgueitio

17-year-old Sofia Murgueitio enjoys spending time with her friends and family, watching movies and traveling, as well as investing her time in charities and social work. Like most teenagers, her life is surrounded by technology, whether it is to communicate with her social network, watch Netflix, or study.

Valentina Velasco

17-year-old has always been interested in human rights and in law. Living in Colombia her entire life has made her very thankful for what she has; she believes that by studying law she can make a change and create opportunities for others. She is currently participating in a program that wants to help kids from less privileged environments find motivation and participate in the Model United Nations. She is very inspired by the passion of these kids in overcoming multiple falls in their lives and wanting stay on the right path.

Ximena Silva

17-year-old Ximena Silva adores to travel and desires to study advertising and public relations in the United States. And in anticipation of the move, she is interested in social justice and the political environment of the country.
