In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Emma van der Leest

Emma van der Leest is trained as product designer, but has great interest in the field of biofabrication. Emma is also the founder of the BlueCity lab, in an open workshop and laboratory based in the heart of an old abandoned swimming pool in Rotterdam, which is now turned into BlueCity where entrepreneurs work together in accordance with the sustainable concept of the Blue Economy, where production work as an ecosystem, waste of one entrepreneur is food for the other.

Jasna Rokegem

Jasna Rokegem is the founder of Jasna Rok, the first Fash Tech design studio in Belgium. Jasna is a young and energetic pioneer in combining innovative fashion and cutting-edge technology. Not only in creating unique projects and collections, but also in bringing these to life by using techniques such as virtual and augmented reality. She has a strong vision on the clothing of the future and how it can add value to our daily lives.

Jaya Baloo

Jaya Baloo is the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of KPN in the Netherlands. She was recently recognized as one of the top 100 CISO's globally. Working in the information security arena for the past 18 years, she has worked mostly for global telecommunications companies such as Verizon and France Telecom. Jaya is also a frequent speaker at security conferences on subjects around lawful interception, mass surveillance, and cryptography

Marcel Schouwenaar

Marcel Schouwenaar is a product designer, consultant and creative technologist. In 2012 he co-founded design agency The Incredible Machine, a design consultancy focusses on connected products. Besides design consultancy Marcel is a teacher at Delft University of Technology and a co-author of The IoT Design Manifesto – guidelines for responsible design in a connected world.

Prof. Wolf Ketter

Prof. Wolf Ketter is the Director of the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University Centre for Future Energy Business as well as Director of the Institute of Energy Economics at the University of Cologne. He is also policy advisor on energy to the German government. His research (and those of his PhDs and the Centres) focusses on how to create smart and sustainable markets.

Sangbreeta Moitra

Chosen by the VIVA Magazine as one of the top 400 inspiring women in The Netherlands, Sangbreeta is an award-winning speaker on powerful communication, brand storytelling and customer engagement. In 2013 and 2014, she represented The Netherlands and won the European Bronze Award in Toastmasters Public Speaking Championships. In 2017, she was the winner of the TEDxRotterdam Open Mic contest. From her early years as an orator in India, Sangbreeta has spent decades mastering the art of communication and storytelling.

Wienke Giezeman

Wienke Giezeman is the co-founder of The Things Network and a mentor at Rockstart Accellerator. He started his career with KPN but soon after he left the corporate world and founded WappZapp, a video on demand platform providing curated free and paid video. Wienke has been fighting for a free and open internet since he founded Startups for Net Neutrality. Together with a group of people he let the EU Parliament know how important net neutrality is for starting online businesses.

Willem Philipsen

With a career in performing arts - guitar player at Postmen, Anouk and Soulvation - the stage was his home. Currently Willem is producing music and working as a sound design consultant. Next to that, he is a regular guest speaker for the ''Fit Brain'' (Het Fitte Brein).

Wouter van Noort

Wouter van Noort is a journalist at the Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad, where he writes mainly about technology, economics and media. He previously worked for Elsevier and the NOS. In his recent book "Is there anyone?" (Is daar iemand?) he explores the spectrum of our smartphone addiction. He is also a guest lecturer at the University of Leiden.
