In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Andrew Dwyer

As an English major and Magazine Publisher, Andrew has always been a lover of language and ideas. His abilities with the written word drove professional success, but his skill set lacked one critical tool – confidence with the spoken word. So when happenstance pushed him before a microphone in his community, Andrew made a powerful discovery: Speaking to strangers and engaging beyond his comfort zone radically improved his mindset. This realization soon led to radio shows and public speaking…and to confidence and happiness. Fear and anxiety gave way to appreciation and joy. Today, whether it’s an audience of one or 1,000, Andrew is open to every opportunity to meet a stranger and engage the world.

Norberto Vargas Orellana

I was born with right spastic semihemiplegia cerebral palsy. Throughout my life I have endured many surgeries - thankfully I will never need any other operations. I dealt with severe poverty throughout my life and moved around quite a lot. My journey began in the New York, took me to Colorado, then Miami, and finally back here to Colorado. I was homeless through much of my high school career but persevered. I have an associates degree in pre-bachelor of arts which I earned along with my high school diploma. I'm a sophomore at Colorado College on a full-ride scholarship. And I'm a declared chemistry major. I plan on going to medical school so that I may become a pediatric orthopedic surgeon - to complete the circle that has been my life journey. I've managed to accomplish a lot so far - and I know that this is only just the beginning of what I can and will accomplish.
