TEDxMalvern will build on Great Malvern's unique heritage as a visitor destination in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a centre for technology development and creative thinking. The evening event will feature a line-up of fantastic live speakers, the screening of some thought provoking TEDTalks, and a chance to discuss and network with fellow participants.

Katie Alcott

Founder, Director at Frank Water Projects
Katie Alcott is an award-winning social entrepreneur who founded FRANK Water in 2005 after suffering dysentery from drinking dirty water in India. As CEO of the organisation, she oversees the development and delivery of the overall strategy and has worked tirelessly with her team to improve access to safe water, sanitation & hygiene in India. Katie lives in Colwall, near Malvern, UK.

Paul Farrer

Music Composer
Paul Farrer is an award-winning composer of music for Television. In a career spanning 28 years he has composed the music to numerous TV shows including Dancing on Ice, The Chase, Judge Rinder, Ant and Dec’s Push The Button, Jeremy Kyle, Michael McIntyre’s Big Show, Gladiators, and The Weakest Link - The BBC’s most successful ever TV format, sold to 97 countries. In 2012 he was commissioned to compose the orchestral music to the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Variety Performance at the Royal Albert Hall in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen and has been honoured to have been invited back to do the same every year since. He lives in Malvern, UK.

Stephen Ward-Smith

Chemist & Key Account Manager
Dr Stephen Ward-Smith has a BSc in Chemistry from Manchester University, a Masters in Biomolecular Technology from Leicester University and a PhD in Physical Chemistry from Nottingham University. He has worked for Malvern Panalytical initially as a technical support specialist and for the last 10 years as a Key Account Manager looking after large multinational customers. Steve also is passionate about international standardisation and represents the UK / BSI on several ISO committees and is the global chair of the ISO group looking at the measurement and uses of fine and ultrafine bubbles.
