Theme: Breaking out of your shell

This event will take place on the CNG theater. We will listen to four wonderful speakers deliver very inspiring talks that link with the theme which is breaking out of your shell. I chose this theme because it inspires people to have the confidence to step out of their confort zones and do life changing tasks.The speakers are: Nicolas Reyes, Camilo Pelaez, Kate Harvey and Alyson Lee Meister. Also, pre-recorded TED talks by Matt Cutts and Louie Schwartzberg will be shown, and a 4th grader will make a dance performance during the intermission. Please make sure you arrive early enough to get your lunch before TEDxColegioNuevaGranada starts.

Alyson Lee Meister

Professor

Dr. Meister has spent her career in executive development and academia at business schools across the globe. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Organizational Behaviour and Leadership, teaching both Undergraduate and Masters levels at the University of Los Andes in Bogotá. In addition, she is a leadership consultant and works with corporate clients to develop leadership capacity throughout their organizations. In this role, she works on executive programs in leading business schools in Russia, China, and Europe. Dr. Meister completed her PhD at Melbourne University in Australia, where her research explored how women leaders create, sustain, and negotiate their identities with others. She also consults on navigating interpersonal dynamics, and how to make the workplace a more positive experience. Her work has been presented at several international conferences, and has been published in the Academy of Management Review and the Leadership Quarterly.

Camilo Pelaez

Entrepreneur

Camilo Pelaez is a CNG Alumni. After graduation, he got his Bachelors Degree in Culinary Arts and Sciences at the Culinary Institute of America in New York. He also worked at Chipotle in their Manager Training Program in New York City. In 2014 he came back to Colombia to embark in his own endeavor. Today, a year and half since the opening of Home Burger, Camilo runs the operational aspect of the company, overseeing 5 locations open to the public and over 70 workers.

Kate Harvey

Teacher

Kate Harvey was born and raised in the United States in the state of Connecticut. Her undergraduate degree is in psychology and she has two masters degrees: Masters in the Arts of Teaching and Masters in Education in School Counseling. She is also a licensed school counselor. She has been a teacher and a school counselor for 16 years and has worked and lived in Kuwait, Washington D.C., Colombia, Guatemala, Malaysia, and Chile. Kate moved to Bogota last August with her husband and two children and is looking forward to working at CNG this upcoming school year.

Nicolas Reyes

Public Speaker

Nicolás es un Administrador de Empresas del Colegio de Estudios Superiores de Administración CESA, especializado en Mercadeo. Ha participado en la junta de varias organizaciones como el consejo Editorial de la Revista especializada en Mercadeo “Marketing News”, La Junta Directiva Fundonal, y la de WOK. Nicolás trabajó durante 18 años en Microsoft Colombia y región Andina en el área Comercial, obteniendo numerosos reconocimientos por su desempeño. Su pasión, es influenciar a gente a través del lenguaje y las ideas. En Diciembre 31 del 2011, decidió traer a Colombia una de las franquicias más grandes en el mundo en desempeño organizacional, “Dale Carnegie”. También es un keynote speaker, y miembro del portafolio y de Hicue speakers.
