In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Amaris Aloise

Student
Amaris Aloise is a full-time student and musician at Glendora High School. Throughout the year, she participates in marching band activities for her school while keeping a small band for herself on the side. Besides being in drumline, Amaris also plays in the Glendora High School Jazz Band. She hopes to one day become a Forensic Anthropologist for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and help find justice for those who need it.

Bobbi Stoll

Art Therapist
Bobbi Stoll is a retired art therapist but a lifelong artist and traveler. After graduating from Syracuse University in New York, Bobbi was a computer programmer for a few years but always knew art was her true passion. Yet she wanted something that satisfied both the creative and logical sides of her brain... and thus her life's work with art therapy was born. She became a pioneer in this fledgling field and founded the International Networking Group of Art Therapists in 1989, which grew to include art therapists from over 80 countries around the globe.

Chiara Hardgrove

Student
Chiara Hardgrove is a Junior at Glendora High School who is passionate about promoting Social Justice throughout society. As the two-time President of the local Youth and Government Delegation, California Scholarship Federation Officer, founder and President of the Artemis Club, and JV Swimmer she keeps busy at Glendora High School. She volunteers many hours through National Charity League, of which she is an officer. Recently, she was awarded the Presidential Volunteer Service for volunteering over 100 hours at House of Ruth, a Domestic Violence Shelter. She spends her spare time nurturing her curiosity about the world and intellectual passion (often by watching TED talks) and cuddling her pet parrot.

DeBran Haselwood

Cosmetic Leader
DeBran Haselwood is a top level leader in one of the fastest growing cosmetics company in the world. She leads a team of over 4,000 women (and a few good men) in various countries. DeBran has a passion for encouraging a supportive community for women, in particular. She loves seeing women connect with and support each other and believes that society is stronger when these relationships are valued. DeBran lives in La Verne, Ca with her husband and four children

Hua Yu

immuno-oncology scientist/professor
Dr. Hua Yu is a professor of the department of immuno-oncology at City of Hope. She recieved both her B.A. and PhD from Columbia University, and completed her postdoc at the University of Michigan. Dr. Yu's lab was the first to identify a tumor regulator molecule, STAT3, and its role in allowing malignant cells to survive and multiply. Dr. Yu believes that when a way to turn off STAT3 is found, the face of cancer research will change - for the better.

Jeffrey Zweerink

Astrophysicist + research scholar
Dr. Jeffrey Zweerink is an astrophysicist and research scholar for Reasons to Believe (RTB), a ministry devoted to narrow the gap between religion and science. Since early childhood, both religion and science have played a big role in Jeff's life - yet he was conflicted by the seemingly opposing natures of these two fields. It was Hugh Ross, founder of RTB, who introduced Jeff to this idea of aligning religion and science while Jeff was attending Iowa State University. Today, Jeff serves as the executive director of RTB's online learning program.

Jennifer Honeywell

Student
Jennifer Honeywell is a junior at Glendora High School, and an avid cat enthusiast. Between school, rehearsal, and Youth and Government meetings, she likes to spend her time with her two sisters. She takes pride in everything she does, and one day hopes to change the world.

Michael Martin

Artist
Michael is an artist with a background in physics and mathematics. Since graduating from Carnegie Mellon in 2014, he has focused his efforts on communicating philosophical ideas through various forms of art. He is primarily interested in the intersection between theoretical physics and philosophy. He is currently in the publishing process for his first novel A Reason is a Lie, in which he investigates the idea of choice. He resides in Los Angeles and holds a degree in Physics from Carnegie Mellon University.

Shotaro Matsumoto

Pianist
Shotaro obtained his Master’s Degree in the field of Piano Performance and has experience performing in famous concert venues around the world. During his college education, he has won many state, national, and international piano competitions, and taught music on the side. Pursuing other passions, he is also currently waiting for the board of officers to evaluate his profile to become a pilot for the Air Force and fly the F-22 Raptor or F-35 jets.
