Ideas shape the world around us, and history stands testimony to the fact that innovation comes from creating environments where a diverse set of ideas can connect and interact. At TEDxXLRI 2017, we intend to engage with such a diverse set of ideas under the theme for this edition of TEDxXLRI: Ideate. Innovate. Ignite. In our fourth edition, we bring to you acclaimed individuals from myriad backgrounds whose ground-breaking ideas have not only spurred innovations that have shaped a better world, but have also helped ignite the same passion in hundreds around them. It is the very same passion that these speakers will put for us into words. Join us in the conclave of "ideas worth spreading" as our speakers help you explore newer ideas.

Amol Parashar

A brilliant student throughout, Amol had what most of us would be contented with - a mechanical engineering degree from the prestigious IIT Delhi and a rewarding job with a management consulting firm. However, Amol realized that acting was his real calling and decided to embark upon a totally new journey as he quit his job after having worked for almost a year. He starred in a series of critically acclaimed movies like Traffic and Mili (A Malyalam film) before reprising the lead role in the successful web series TVF Tripling. Besides mainstream acting, Amol has also done many commercials for leading brands like Tanishq, Cadbury Silk, Vodafone and Lay’s.

Divya Prakash Dubey

Divya Prakash Dubey aka DP is bestselling author of three books (Musafir Cafe, Masala Chai & Terms and conditions apply). Besides writing he is also popularizing his new brand of storytelling, “StoryBaazi”. He belongs to a new line of Hindi authors who are rewriting the rules of the game.

Gaurav Sharma

Investment banker-turned-Serial Entrepreneur Gaurav Sharma has founded 4 startups in the past 6 years whereby he has managed to engage over 100 million Internet users. Currently, Sharma is running a US based SaaS start-up called SaaS Labs with 1.30 lakh businesses as its users. A product of the National Institute of Technology Warangal, Gaurav likes to work on ideas in the Big Data space. Apart from being an entrepreneur himself, Gaurav is also an active angel investor and helps support educational institutions with their entrepreneurship programs. His latest startup, Justcall.io helps businesses connect and communicate efficiently with international customers.

Rahul Roshan

His personal blog describes this ‘paagal patrakar’ as Rahul Roushan, a well-known expert on nothing. A maths graduate from Patna University, Roushan also has a post graduate diploma in broadcast journalism from Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi. After completing his management studies from IIM Ahmedabad, Roushan founded Faking News, a news satire website that publishes fake news reports satirising real news reports and spoofing public figures. He continues to work as an editor at Firstpost after the Network-18 backed news website acquired Faking News.

Saloni Malhotra

Saloni Malhotra is the founder and former CEO of DesiCrew, an IT-enabled service company that provides back-office and support services in rural areas of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. An engineer from the University of Pune, she started her career in an interactive media start up - Web Chutney in Delhi. Saloni started DesiCrew with the intent of taking jobs to the rural areas. Her company DesiCrew received widespread acclaim and applause for its innovative approach. Her achievements have brought her various laurels like the TiE Stree Shakthi Award in 2011. She has also bagged prestigious nominations like MTV Youth Icon (2008) and E& Y Entrepreneur of the Year (2008).

Wajid Khan

Wajid Khan primarily known for his “Iron Nail Art” is a man who knows how to successfully juggle multiple hats. He is also an accomplished painter, sculptor, rugby player and inventor. He announced his arrival on the global arena as a child prodigy when he found a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for inventing world's smallest 'electric-Iron' at the age of 14 . His penchant for inventions continued as he went on to invent a water theft device and a centralized touch-activated switch for household appliances. He is also credited for creating world’s first 3D painting. Khan has been bestowed with innumerous awards for his excellence. He was awarded thrice by the late president Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and has also been named in the Limca Book of Records and Asia Book of Records.
