In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Adam Davis

Writer
From his career in law enforcement to volunteering in non-profit organizations, the values learned from his childhood have lasted through his adult life. Adam became a first-generation college graduate at the age of 34 when he received his Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Troy University. He has since self-published three books, one of which is an Amazon Best-Seller for law enforcement. As a small business owner, author, speaker, advocate, and most importantly, husband and father, Adam believes the most important thing we can do is invest in the lives of other people, and he does just that through the words he writes and speaks.

Avalon Dudinsky

Entrepreneur
Avalon is a college student and an active member of her community at Troy University. She discovered her passion for business and is pursuing her dream of being an entrepreneur.

Jamillah Bell

Jamillah began playing and writing music in elementary school. A poet, musician, and visual artist, she hopes to pursue masters and doctorate degrees in history and cultural studies. She is passionate about people and the art that they bring with them as they take their different paths in life. Her dream is to become a college professor and share a love of diversity, music, and the people who make it possible.

Leah Langston

Social Media Coordinator
Leah Langston served as Miss Troy University 2016, represented Troy University in the 2016 Miss Alabama Competition, and founded TIARAS in Troy, which took place in the Troy community and on campus. Her active platform throughout her college career was motivating and influencing young women to discover their worth.

Luke Ritter

Dr. Luke Ritter completed his Ph.D. in American History at Saint Louis University in 2014 and accepted a full-time teaching position at Troy University, where he is currently employed. Ritter’s scholarly interests include nineteenth-century immigration to the U.S., the relationship between religion and politics in America, and nativism. He is the author of numerous scholarly articles, and his book manuscript, Nativism in the Old West and the Anti-Catholic Origins of American Civil Religion, is currently under review at Fordham University Press.

Scott Lumpkin

Alabama native D. Scott Lumpkin has been a successful film and television producer for over two decades. Beginning his career as a camera assistant, Scott has successfully transitioned into the roles of both producer and creative executive

Travis Maupin

Student
Travis enjoys playing football and being in the band. His goal is to obtain a PhD in in computer science and hopefully become a college professor because he enjoys speaking and helping others. Travis' analytical skills helped him realize how broken the concept of arguing over the internet is.
