In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Anthony Cormier

Anthony Cormier is an FSU alumnus who won a Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting for his extensive exploration of the current condition of Florida’s mental care health system. When he was a Tampa Bay Times reporter, Anthony examined the dilapidated health care system where he found patients and facilities severely neglected. He now works for BuzzFeed News.

Cathryn Lokey

Lokey is an FSU alumnus who has greatly impacted the Tallahassee community through teaching. After coming out as gay and leaving a life as a Mormon, she has faced and overcome a spectrum of obstacles.

Cecily Matthews

Cecily Matthews is a senior at FSU and a member of Black Student Union, PeaceJam Southeast, and Pride Student Union. With her involvement on campus, she has realized the influence a binary mindset has on people and the power of dismantling it.

Gary Taylor

Dr. Gary Taylor is a celebrated research professor the English Department at FSU. He has written extensively on the works and life of William Shakespeare. His recent research indicates that fellow 16th-century​ playwright Christopher Marlowe assisted Shakespeare with one of his most popular pieces Henry VI and ought to be recognized as a co-author.

James Olcese

Dr. James Olcese is a professor in FSU Program in Neuroscience with pioneering research. He has discovered a hormone in the uterus of pregnant women that dictates the timing of labor. In order to prevent premature contractions, Dr. Olcese has invented a mask that emits a blue light and helps prevent contractions that come too soon.

Jens Foell

Dr. Jens Foell is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Clinical Psychology department at FSU. He has conducted groundbreaking research involving MRI brain imaging which explores the cause of and treatment for phantom limb pain, a condition where amputees still feel the presence of their limbs post-surgery.

Jin Yan

Jin Yan is a postdoctoral scholar in FSU and a product development engineer in General Capacitor Int. LLC. She is also a recipient of the Amelia Earhart Fellowship from Zonta International, a fellowship that gives financial aid to women studying aerospace science. She knows the value of studying science and the importance of women being involved in the STEM field.

LaFarin Meriwether

LaFarin Meriwether works at FSU as an assistant director for University Housing and is currently a doctoral student in the Higher Education program. Her research interest is focused on​ Black female identity development. LaFarin is a firm believer in living life on your own terms, and she believes that we are all purposed to do and be something that the world needs.

Nick O'Donnell

Nick O'Donnell is an FSU graduate with his own interior design company Terraform Design. He was awarded the Governor's Young Entrepreneur Award for his work and has had his geometric furniture and lighting published in The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and the Silicon Valley Business Journal. His work has allowed him to gather a variety of tips and advice for anyone wanting to see an idea become reality.
