In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Amanda Horne

Masters Student studying Gerentology at Miami University
Amanda Horne is a master's student in the Gerentology department, here at Miami. She is currently working as a graduate student for the Oxford VillAGE Network - encouraging livability and community for all. Amanda has a BA from Miami in Sociology and Criminology and has been the stage and production manager for Miami Opera since 2012.

Blake Smith is the founder and CEO of a company called Cladwell, which fights for sustainability and humane labor practices. Blake and his wife, Chandler, raise and homeschool 4 kids while running a boutique political activism/PR firm.

Cole Agenbroad! Cole is a senior, majoring in Sustainability and Individualized Studies here at Miami. In his spare time, Cole enjoys hiking and discovering uncommon teas and chocolates.

Megan Gerhardt

Professor of Management at Miami University
Dr. Gerhardt is a Professor of Management and Leadership at the Farmer School of Business at Miami University, specializing in individual and team leadership development, where she also serves as Co-Director of the Isaac & Oxley Center for Business Leadership. Her current research focuses on the leadership of multiple generations in the workplace. In addition, Dr. Gerhardt is a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach in the area of strengths based leadership, and leads professional development workshops in organizations on the topics of Strengthsfinder, managing multiple generations in the workforce, emotional intelligence, authentic leadership and women in leadership in the 21st century.

Nathan French

Assistant Professor of Comparative Religion at Miami University
Nathan French is an assistant professor in the Department of Comparative Religion and affiliate in International Studies and Islamic & Middle Eastern Studies. Dr. French is also the Faculty Director of the Miami in Oman & UAE winter term program. He earned his Ph.D. in Religious Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara, his A.M. in Islamic Studies from Washington University in St. Louis, and his B.A. from Centre College in Religion. Although his background is in Islamic Law, Dr. French currently studies the jurisprudence of al-Qa'ida and the Islamic State. If he isn't listening to baseball on the radio, he's waiting for pitchers and catchers to report.
