In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Arlene Arias

Dr. Arlene Arias is a licensed clinical social worker and possesses a doctoral degree in educational leadership. As a co-founder of Radical Advocates for Cross Cultural Education she is also a staunch advocate in the Greater Waterbury community for educational equity and social justice on behalf of minority populations.

Carol Glynn

International author and national speaker, Teaching Artist Carol Glynn integrates theater, writing, and structured kinesthetic activities with curricular subjects, K-12, simultaneously building teamwork and presentation skills. Carol takes on any subject to make learning memorable and real for all learners.

Denny Taylor

Dr. Denny Taylor is the founder and CEO of Garn Press, and Professor Emeritus of Literacy Studies at Hofstra University. Taylor is a lifelong activist and scholar committed to nurturing the imagination and human spirit, and she regards art, literature, and science as inseparable.

Helen Koulidobrova

Dr. Helen Koulidobrova is Assistant Professor in Linguistics at Central Connecticut State University and the Director of the CCSU Bilingualism and English Language Learning Research Lab (BELL-RL@CCSU). Dr. Koulidobrova has conducted a number of professional development workshops for pre- and in-service language professionals and has served on a variety of CT legislative workgroups dedicated to improvement of academic outcomes for English learners in the US

Jona-Nicoll Senft

Dr. Joan Nicoll-Senft is Chair of Special Education and Interventions Department at CCSU, where she teaches special education to undergraduate and graduate students. Her research interests include the development and implementation of curriculum that meets the needs of ALL learners in both K-12 and college settings.

Shelly Jones

Dr. Shelly M. Jones is Associate Professor at Central Connecticut State University. Her interests include culturally relevant mathematics, connecting mathematics and music, and students’ mathematics beliefs. She contributed to The Brilliance of Black Children in Mathematics: Beyond the Numbers and Toward a New Discourse.
