In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Corinne Jones

Corrine Jones, MS, CCC-SLP, is a PhD candidate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with the Neuroscience Training Program and Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders. She is a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist with a specific focus in evaluation of swallowing disorders, and her research examines early, sub-clinical changes in voice and swallowing function in patients with Parkinson disease.

Ed Maxwell

We have strategies to address the biases we know about, but what about the biases that lurk in our unconscious? Ed Maxwell explores how we can overcome our hidden biases with the simplest of techniques: mindfulness practice. He’s been trained by the Center for Mindfulness, which belongs to the University of Massachusetts Medical School. After earning his MBA from the Wisconsin School of Business, he combined his passion for teaching, business, and mindfulness by founding Third Left Wellness, a company that offers onsite mindfulness training to employees. His goal is to apply mindfulness to the most pressing needs our organizations face, including how to build more inclusive workplaces.

Ethan Young

Ethan Young is the Founder and President of Insight Wisconsin, the premier organization for “Student Inventors” on the UW-Madison campus. Members work in interdisciplinary project teams on structured design projects proposed by researchers, corporate partners, and members themselves. Concurrently, Ethan is a sophomore Chemical Engineering student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Jay Flores

Jay Flores, STEM Ambassador at Rockwell Automation, has a mission: instilling a passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in today’s young minds. Jay is masterful in connecting STEM to everyday life and motivating students to become tomorrow’s innovators. His high energy and intellect have been recognized by the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) and he was also honored as one of 20 youths to present to congressional leaders and policy makers in 2014 through a LOFT (Leaders on the Fast Track) fellowship. Jay’s STEM advocacy and outreach efforts support Rockwell Automation’s Engineering Our Future™ and Inspiring Young Minds™ philanthropic priorities, including programs such as Project Lead the Way, ST Math and FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology).

Sangita Kasturi

As the CEO of Action Inclusion, Sangita Kasturi helps develop insights and practices to overcome issues of conscious and unconscious bias and build workplace inclusion. Solutions are offered through consultations, seminars, workshops and coaching. Commonly addressed areas include gender equality for all people; recognizing and promoting female and minority talent; and developing global leaders. Sangita is recognized as a dynamic speaker on issues of gender, leadership and diversity and leads corporate learning programs and MBA courses in these areas. She sits on the Board of Directors of The Women's Fund of Greater Milwaukee and was a founding member of Chicago Women on Boards 2020. Sangita has been featured in Working Mother media for expanding our understanding of gender and way decisions are made.

Sara McKinnon

Sara L. McKinnon is an Associate Professor of Rhetoric, Politics & Culture in the Department of Communication Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research and teaching focuses intercultural rhetoric, globalization studies, and gender studies. She is the author of Gendered Asylum: Race and Violence in U.S. Law and Politics (University of Illinois Press, 2016), which charts the incorporation of gender provisions in US refugee and asylum law within the context of broader national and global politics.

Ted Harro

Ted Harro is a strategy facilitator who has a secret life as a bread baker on weekends. He has worked across industries as diverse as medical devices, higher education, software startups, insurance, and soil management (yes, that's a thing). His work helps us gain insights into what makes organizations and people tick. Ted blogs on his own site and the Huffington Post about these topics.
