In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Youth for RISE Advocacy Network

Maurice Hill, Douglas Johnson, Da’Quon Beaver and Briele Ellis with Youth for RISE Advocacy Network | The Youth for RISE Advocacy Network is for youth and young adults ages 13-24 in the Richmond metro area who have personally experienced the juvenile justice system or who are interested in improving the juvenile justice system and dismantling the school to prison pipeline.

Alvalia Pemberton

Alvalia Pemberton is a Kittian-American visual artist from Bronx, New York. She recently received her BFA with a dual concentration in Photography and Filmmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University. Her films have screened and gained recognition at film festivals along the East Coast. The short film “…still” recently showed at Richmond’s own Afrikana Film Festival.

Black Liquid

Black Liquid is a hip-hop MC and teacher based in Richmond, Virginia. Whether it's music, teaching, speaking, or hosting events and radio shows, Black Liquid's number one mission is identity through expression, expression through empowerment, all in the name of Hip-Hop.

CorRales Dupree

CorRales Dupree is a sophomore in college and a student athlete; ironically, he almost lost his life during his sophomore year of high school. He enjoys playing sports, training clients as a wellness coach at the YMCA and doing volunteer work around his community and the country.

Scott Clark

Scott Clark is a time-keeper, pattern-maker, dance leader, historian, organizer and disruptor. From college stadium drum lines, to the quietest listening rooms, and all the avant-garde dive bars and crowded rock clubs in between, he takes his own spirited and idiosyncratic path. Born in El Paso, Texas, Clark currently keeps the faith in Richmond, Virginia, in a slew of groups, duos, and solo performances around that remarkable, close-knit musical town. His voice rises clear and distinct, an intuitive and visionary presence, perfectly calm and perfectly wild. The ScottClark4tet debut on Clean Feed Records, Bury My Heart, is a significant compositional achievement, a heartfelt suite of protest music addressing one of the darkest periods of America’s history filtered through study of his own native ancestry.
