Theme: Dino-mite Dinosaurs!

This event occurred on
August 9, 2016
East Hartford, Connecticut
United States

Most of us learn about dinosaurs as children. Even as adults, dinosaurs continue to hold our imaginations and interest.

In the last several decades, new fossil discoveries, books like Robert Bakker’s The Dinosaur Heresies, and movies like Jurassic Park have completely upended our knowledge, understanding and presentation of dinosaurs. We know now that some dinosaurs were warm-blooded, some had feathers, and some were far stranger in form and life than we ever imagined.

Tonight we’ll learn about these discoveries and theories, ask whether we should genetically engineer birds to look more like their dinosaur cousins, and ponder why these extinct creatures continue to fascinate us.
