TEDxFGCU is filled with powerful narratives. In the morning, Mary Evelyn Tucker introduces the Journey of the Universe, a new multi-media collaboration inspired by Thomas Berry's "The New Story." This epic narrative tells the story of our connection to the Cosmos. Next, Alison Hawthorne Deming explores the relationship between animals and the human spirit. She will focus on the importance of animals in the human imagination from our deepest roots in Africa to the present moment of ecological duress with some speculation about how animals might help guide us into the uncertain future. In the afternoon, Heila Lotz-Sisitka shares her own African story, as a teacher in segregated schools during apartheid in South Africa. She articulates her vision of an "education for the future." The last speaker, Akpezi Ogbuigwe, will tell us about the real Africa, a continent of unparalleled beauty and wealth, Africa is a continent of unparalleled panoramic beauty and wealth. Not just in terms of the natural resources, flora and fauna but also in terms of its people. Africa is synonymous with calmness, serenity, diligence, environmental harmony and selflessness. She retrieves forgotten stories, and stories of unsung women and children.
