Theme: UP; pioneers look around the world

Through our theme 'UP', we wanted to show people the image of 'UP', literally. 'UP' can be translated in various ways; going up to some ideal places, pursuing higher value, or etc. Most of these meanings imply positive and escalating image. As you know, the main motto of TED is 'Ideas worth spreading' and TEDx basically follows that motto. We thought, thorough efforts to share worthy ideas, all people who attends and watching our events can 'go up'. So we tried to select various fields as possible as we can. By experiencing new fields and perspectives, we are sure that our audiences can have 'up' in their minds.

Bubble Dragon Shin

Bubble artist

Bubble Dragon is the first artist to adopt bubble as an art form in South Korea. He shows bubble to people as a sign of dream and hope. To promote societies' wills and success of their dreams , he demonstrates a way to break through obstacles that interrupt people that tries to achieve their dreams. Bubble dragon's personal motivation is that he wants people to never give up on their dreams.

Euy-Hun Yi

Representative of incorporated association "jump"

Yi Euy-Hun is a representative of incorporated association "jump". The name of jump means "Join Us to Maximize our Potential". They work at reducing education inequalities, by providing some education opportunities for socially disadvantaged group. They develop some systems and incentives for more people participating in education inequalities.

In Hwan Jo

Graduate student of Bio-convergence Engineering, Korea University, Seoul, Korea

In – Hwan Jo is a graduate student of Bio-convergence Engineering, Korea University, Seoul, Korea. He figures the world out in terms of scientific knowledge. He metaphorically expresses the roles that make someone happy as electrons, and suggest to have more electrons for the better life. In addition, he asks the audience, “Do you remember when you eat the first apple in your life?” The apple implies the success. And he recommends bearing the memory of first success in mind to live life passionately.

Mi Sook Ko

Classic critic and works at Gam-ui Dang, the Institute of humanities, medicine and dynamics

Ko Mi-Sook made the notion of the classic critics and she is also the first classic critic in Korea. Now she works at Gam-ui Dang, the Institute of humanities, medicine and dynamics. Moreover she has written many books about classics. At TedxKoreauniversity, she talked about youth. She explained youth by using the notion of Eros and Logos. Youth is the feast of Eros and Logos and the young have to do anything they want in their twenties.

Seung Joo Kim

Professor of KoreaUniversity graduate school of Information Security

Professor Kim Seung-Joo gives us insight about how we should take information security seriously. In near future more than millions of devices are going to be connected on internet, which is called IoT. When IoT comes up not only phones and televisions now we use, but cars and even medical devices will be connected to the internet. This means people can even die out of lack of security. Therefore individuals should know how their personal information is important and companies should get the sense of responsibility about managing customers' personal information.

WonGyu Ha

Researcher of ETRI(Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute) and IPnomics

WonGyu Ha is a researcher of ETRI(Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute) and IPnomics. The presentation subject is digital planet, the forth industry revolution. It is about the digital world where we live right now. It also tells how our space will change. Also it will give us the explainations of IOT, AI or other smart things which are very important thesedays. .
