In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Aaron Delehanty

Artist
Aaron Delehanty is Lead Artist at Walking Stick Studio which specializes in making small to medium scale Museum and Theater components for institutions, artists, exhibitions and scientists. His prior work was as a Replicator, Artist at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. Aaron has a MFA in Painting from the San Francisco Art Institute, a Bachelor’s in Studio Art from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Bachelor’s in History from Ohio State University.

Adrian Hale

Student
Adrian Hale is a Rochester, NY native, who served five years active duty in the United States Marine Corps, and made two combat deployments to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He is currently a senior at Yale University studying political science. Upon graduation from Yale, Adrian wishes to return to Rochester and become a reform advocate who will advocate the betterment of the city.

Annemarie Zwack

Visual Artist
Annemarie Zwack is a visual artist who specializes in working with communities to help them realize their creative goals. She has been involved in the Community Built movement since 1997, and has facilitated the creation of community designed & made artwork, nationally and internationally. Zwack believes we are all creative beings and takes joy in fanning the flames of that creativity.

Bruce Teall

Bruce Teall, LCSW-R is a licensed clinical social worker in private practice. He has been involved in mental health treatment for over twenty years and most recently he has been involved in research and treatment of veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Chris Cooley

Chris Cooley is a creative entrepreneur focused on empowering and building communities. Through his business, Cooley Creative LLC, Chris has developed a unique branding processes for global software development companies. He is also a consultant, blogger and evangelist for the co-working culture and has co-founded two co-working spaces in the last year and a half with plans of creating more soon.

Dan LoDestro is a high school senior and is currently looking at majoring in music. Mr. LoDestro is a Tourette Syndrome Association Youth Ambassador.

Dr. Roja Singh

Associate Professor
Born and brought up in Chennai, South India, Roja Singh is currently Visiting Assistant Professor at St. John Fisher College. Roja’s ongoing research and social activism focus on intersections of caste, class and gender in rural India as evident in the lives, experiences, leadership strategies, oral narratives and cultural expressions of Dalit communities of women in South India and other indigenous communities. Roja holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from Rutgers and is President of Dalit Solidarity Forum in the USA, Inc. a nonprofit organization committed to the social and economic progress of Dalit communities.

Ian Ference

Guerrilla Preservationist / Urban Archaeologist
Ian Ference is an internationally recognized photographer, researcher, lecturer, and writer on historically significant abandoned structures in America, focusing on "total institutions" having visited hundreds of sites in his 20+ years of field experience. Ference has been published in hundreds of books, periodicals, and blogs on six continents; featured in dozens of documentaries, radio shows, podcasts, television programs, and live panels. His first publication, "Buffalo State Hospital: A History of the Institution in Light and Shadow", was released in July 2016.

Jon Schull

John Schull is a biological psychologist, entrepreneur, community organizer, and Coordinator of RIT’s MAGIC ACT initiative (RIT's Media Arts Games Interaction and Creativity initiative for Access and Collaboration Technologies). Author of 18 patents and scores of scholarly articles, Schull is an internationally recognized innovator in intellectual property protection, information commerce, intelligence in biological and artificial systems, active transportation and sustainability, crowd-sourced mass-customized volunteer-printed prosthetics, and the facilitation of multi-disciplinary collaboration via technology and mentoring. Prof. Schull has delivered speeches at industry events, lectured at universities, and spoken to smaller groups on a variety of topics, electronic publishing, biological and cultural evolution, active transportation planning, the teaching and learning of innovation, and emerging technologies for collaboration.

Krishanan Padmanabhan

Neuroscientist
Krishnan Padmanabhan is an Assistant Professor of Neuroscience at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. The research group he runs, the Neural Circuits and Computation Laboratory develops new tools and technologies to uncover fundamental principles of how neural circuits work and to use these principles to study disease processes with the ultimate goal of finding treatments. Krishnan became interested in neuroscience when he was working as an artist and writer, and he now blends these two worlds together by creating art inspired principles of brain organization and function.

Laura Fox O'Sullivan

Urban Planner
Laura Fox O’Sullivan is the VP of Rochester Downtown Development Corp. After obtaining a Bachelors in History of Art and Architecture from U Penn, Laura traveled the world for a year, working on farms to deepen her understanding of economic development, sustainability practices, and agricultural innovations. After returning to the US, she obtained a Master’s in Urban & Environmental Planning & Policy from Tufts University. As an urban planner and native Rochestarian, Laura has keen interest in working to facilitate this region’s economic development. She has experience in both academic research as well as commerce, having worked as a research assistant at Tufts, and as an urban planner at Bergmann Associates prior to her appointment as VP of the RDDC. She has an interest in the intersection of food and economic development and is involved with various projects to promote Rochester’s revitalization—especially when it comes to its culinary culture.

Marlene Caroselli

Author
Dr. Marlene Caroselli has turned a love of writing and a fascination with animals into her 62nd book, Natural Leadership. She is a retired corporate trainer whose clients include Allied Signal, Lockheed Martin, Xerox, and Navy SEALS. Dr. Caroselli holds a PhD in Education from the University of Rochester.

Mary Whittier

Abuse Advocate
Mary E. Whittier is the Founding Executive for Bivona Child Advocacy Center, a non-profit organization that provides comprehensive services to children suspected of being sexually or physically abused. Ms. Whittier has worked with children and families for over 30 years, is an expert witness on child sexual abuse, holds positions on various boards and numerous awards for public service. Ms. Whittier holds a MS in Social Work from the University of Buffalo.

Pamela Reed Sanchez

Animal Advocate
Pamela Reed Sanchez became the Executive Director of the Seneca Park Zoo Society in June of 2014. Under her leadership, the Zoo has significantly increased the community’s awareness of zoos as conservation organizations, dedicated to saving animals from extinction. She is a passionate advocate for species survival and human action to impact environmental sustainability.

Tamra Tills

Tamra Tills is a graduate student in Social Work at Roberts Wesleyan College. She is compelled to make a difference and effect change in issues that speak to her heart and advocate for those in need of a voice. She spearheaded the movement Spread the Word to End the Word at St. John Fisher College and she continues to strive to identify and ultimately bring awareness to important social issues.

Tianna Mañón

Tianna Mañón is the Editor in Chief of Open Mic Rochester, a recently relaunched online black magazine serving the Rochester area. She is a Rochester native and holds a degree in journalism and political science from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Tianna has a deep love for all things Rochester and hopes to use her passion and skills to one day make it a better place.

Tiffany Mincey

Global Adventurist
Tiffany Mincey is a debt-free 27 year old global adventurist who graduated from Florida International University in 2011 with a Master of Public Administration. In 2015, she received a trophy for placing 3rd in the World Natural Federation of Bodybuilding Ms. Figure Competition. In the fall of 2016, Tiffany earned a certificate for completing the United Way African-American Leadership Development Program enhancing her skill set to better serve the community by empowering and motivating others. She is currently the youngest member of the Board of Directors at the American Red Cross Greater Rochester Chapter. This woman of gumption aims to continue to be a person of integrity, exhibiting professionalism, and displaying self-love with the hope that others might identify these traits and emulate this same concept.
