TEDxLMSD is an independently-organized annual "TED talk" planned for students, by students with enthusiastic support and mentorship from Lower Merion School District staff. A planning team made up of Harriton and Lower Merion students brings together speakers to share "ideas worth spreading" in an organized, focused format through a TEDx license. This year’s theme is “¡Think!” which will focus on how people are thinking about and solving current issues in society.

Dafna Ofer

Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania
Dr. Ofer earned her medical degree at Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv University in Israel. She completed her pediatric residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. She completed a sleep medicine fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Ofer is board certified in Pediatrics and in Sleep medicine. She is a member of the Sleep Research Society (SRS) as well as the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). In addition to adult sleep disorders, Dr. Ofer specializes in Pediatric and adolescent sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, hypersomnolence disorders, movement disorders, parasomnia, circadian rhythm disorders, insomnia and behavioral sleep disorders. Dr. Ofer plays an integral role in the clinical and academic development of fellows in sleep medicine in both adult and pediatric disciplines.

Dustin Albert

Associate Professor of Developmental Psychology, Bryn Mawr College
Dr. Albert is a developmental psychologist whose research investigates social and biological influences on the development of self-regulation, with a focus on identifying factors underlying risk taking and antisocial behavior among adolescents. His work utilizes a variety of research methods to interrogate developmental phenomena, including neuroimaging, genetic epidemiology, and experimental social psychology. His goal is to produce knowledge that contributes to improved prevention of antisocial behavior, substance abuse, and other problems of self-regulation. Professor Albert completed postdoctoral training at the Center for Child and Family Policy at Duke University and the Center for Developmental Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed his B.A. at the University of Oklahoma, his M.A. at Wake Forest University and Ph.D. at Temple University.

Mark Levy

Teacher, Lower Merion High School
Mark Levy is an educator with over 20 years experience in high schools in England and America. He also works in informal education at Hebrew School and summer camp. Mr. Levy is a graduate of The University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University and The University of Scranton. His master’s thesis explored the dangers of the growth of moral relativism at all levels of education, something he continues to be passionate about. Mr. Levy has also always been concerned with combating far right extremism, supporting free speech and campaigning for Jewish political issues.

Phil Hayes

Data Scientist, entrepreneur, web designer, NYU student
Phil Hayes is a Twitter Data Scientist, web designer, programmer, and entrepreneur. While still in college, Phil founded TAVtech, a Tel Aviv­based coding academy for top students from NYU, Harvard, Brown, Cornell, and MIT. Phil shortly thereafter founded Code for the Planet, an organization that seeks to promote impactful technical educational experiences for socially­motivated students. Phil is a recent graduate of the NYU Stern School of Business, where he studied Finance and served as Senior Class President.
