NSS Hill Spring International School is hosting a TEDx event, a student-led initiative, on October 15, Saturday at the Hall Harmony Nehru Centre, Worli. Our theme is 'It's K', where 'K' is a mathematical symbol which represents the term constant and change is the only thing constant in this world.
TEDx speakers are chosen from a community of enterprising and innovative individuals from their respective fields.

Aditya Lodha

Student
Aditya Lodha is yet another aspiring Rap Artist from Mumbai, who dabbles in the ‘Art of Production’ as he likes to term it. Being exposed to instruments like the Tabla and Piano at a young age, Aditya now finds himself at the cusp of modern music and strives to create songs that defy the intimidating nature associated with Rap music, with stories that relate to the new generation of listeners. He released his first song titled ‘Late Delivery’, the July of 2016, which was both produced and written by him, and his second song fairly recently, in November. In his words, he is a ‘Rookie, but moves like a Knight’ and hopes to use his reputation as an underdog in the music world to his advantage. Anurag Shanker

Music Composer and Producer
Anurag Shanker is a Bombay-based composer and producer who has been working with several bands, artistes and on films to give them a unique sound and identity. His collaboration with Namit Das has spawned a new sound that features handpicked elements of Indian folk, Contemporary poetry, Indian classical composition, Jazz, Blues and more - a uniqueness captured by their first release - Din Gaye (2014). They are currently working on their full length album that goes into production later this year. While on stage, they are joined by Wilson Kenneth on Bass and Vaibhav Wavikar on Drums and Percussion to create a minimalistic, yet intense live soundscape. Their performances at the Nh7 Weekender 2014 and Repertwahr Festival 2016 were very well received by new audiences.

Dr. Muffazal Lakdawala

Chairman, Institute of Minimal Access Surgical Sciences and Research Centre, Saifee Hospital, Mumbai, Dr Lakdawala’s career spans across 15 years as a trained laparoscopic surgeon, specializing in bariatric surgery, diabetes surgery and GI oncology surgery. A staunch believer of wellness, well-being and health he is instrumental in healthy make-overs of several statesmen and celebrities. Aiming to educate the masses he has recently authored The Eat-Right Prescription.

Dr. Murad Lala

Doctor, Cancer Surgeon, P. D. Hinduja National Hospital
A Cancer Surgeon at P. D. Hinduja National Hospital, Mumbai, Dr. Lala declares he is young enough to seek adventure and mature enough not to be foolhardy - believing one must get out of comfort zones and push the envelope to become a more mature and complete person. By becoming the first Indian civilian Doctor to summit Mount Everest on 19th May 2013 at 9.10 am, he capped off an intrepid journey which includes the “Triple Crown Expedition” in October, 2012, in which he summited three 20,000 feet peaks around Mount Everest and the “Raid de Himalaya”, the Himalayan Car Rally in 2007, 2008 and 2009, securing third position in the car category in the last along with wife, Dr. Mamatha Lala, a pediatrician and an adventure sports enthusiast herself. His adventuresome repertoire includes assorted marathons, sky diving, bungee jumping, parasailing, white water rafting and trekking in the jungles of Rwanda for mountain gorillas!

Namit Das

Musician, Singer and Fiilm, Television and Theatre Actor.
Namit Das brings a fresh perspective that is still well rooted in its culture from which to view the progressive contemporary music scene in India. The music and lyrics of his songs revive a forgotten era of India’s culture in a brand new light. Apart from being a successful theatre actor from the Bombay theatre circuit, Namit Das hails from a family of singers and composers. His voice really cut across through his role in the hugely popular musical - “Stories In A song” - and since then he has been addressing the composer and performer inside him more regularly via various outlets.

Radhi Parekh

Founder Director, ARTISANS'
Radhi Parekh, a graduate in Visual Communications from the National Institute of Design (NID, Class of 1980), returned to India in 2009 from a career spanning two decades, three continents, and several technologies. From designing and illustrating children’s books at Usborne Publishing, London, and multimedia games in San Francisco, to creating online software solutions in Silicon Valley for Oracle and eBay| Paypal, Radhi helped expand their footprint by advocating localization, to build truly global products. In 2011, Radhi founded ARTISANS' a social enterprise ‘where art craft and design converge’ in Kala Ghoda, Mumbai. She insists “Indian handicrafts lose their Third World, cheap and cheerful” tag and is convinced of the need to exhibit and support handmade Indian luxury products “before they become obsolete”.

Rae Mulla

Student
Rae Mulla is a Rap artist from Mumbai. His love for music and writing stemmed from a young age but his affiliation with rap music began only two years ago. He is inspired by an eclectic set of artists, namely Kurt Cobain and Eminem, which is why he is slowly working towards commercializing Grunge-Rap, dark themes and Shock lyricism. He intends to create a balance between sophistication and Shock Rap and enjoys dropping allusions to his own metaphysical thoughts in his music.He has released 5 singles and is currently writing free verses whilst simultaneously working on new songs. Sameera Khan

Journalist, co-author, The Right to Loiter
Sameera Khan is a Mumbai-based independent journalist, researcher and co-author of the critically acclaimed book, Why Loiter: Women & Risk on Mumbai Streets which examines women's access to public space and emphasizes her right to loiter, and be assured of safety. A former Assistant Editor with the Times of India in Mumbai, she currently teaches journalism at the School for Media & Cultural Studies at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). She has contributed essays on subjects ranging from community history, media coverage of sexual violence, the status of education in slum communities and Muslim women’s presence in public in leading publications and journals. An active founder member of the Network of Women in Media, India, she has co-authored the Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP) India Report 2010 and is currently involved with the 2016 GMMP Report.

Shirin Johari

Co-Founder & Creative Head, Clap Global, Creative Director, Memesys Culture Lab
A visual artist, innovator and entrepreneur, Shirin Johari is the Co-Founder & Creative Head, Clap Global and Creative Director at, Memesys Culture Lab. Clap Global was conceptualised with the aim of creating a larger social and cultural impact as she believes that creative work should help to solve a problem, enlighten, change social perceptions or even entertain. Clap Global was adjudged as the ‘Start-up of the Year’ and ‘Social Messiah of the Year’ by Exhibit Magazine 2016.  Shirin has received The Young Achiever’s Creative Person of the Year by Young Guns besides being  featured live on radio talk shows and profiled in numerous publications.

Sonal Dabral

Chairman & Chief Creator Officer DDB Mudra
Sonal Dabral is the Chairman & Chief Creative Officer of DDB Mudra Group, India with over two decades of experience in the advertising industry and has worked on major local, regional and multinational brands such as Volkswagen, Audi, Unilever Foods, Cadburys, Virgin Mobile, GE, Remy Martin, Coca Cola, DHL, to name just a few. Heading Ogilvy in Malaysia and then taking over as Chairman and ECD of Ogilvy, Singapore, Sonal positioned the company as one of the top creative offices in the region. He has served on juries in most of the Regional and International Award shows like Cannes, Clio, D & AD, One Show, LIA, Andy Awards, AdFest, and Spikes and has spoken at major festivals like LIA, Dubai Lynx, Spikes Asia Singapore, Cristal Advertising Festival, Turkey besides numerous engagements across Asia. A Popular TV host, Bollywood scriptwriter, and ad-film maker, Sonal Dabral dons many creative hats and was named as one of the 50 young Indians who will lead India into the 21st century.

Zahra Hussaini

Oncologist
Holder of an internationally patented tool for detecting oral cancer years in advance and awaiting her second patent on HIV, Dr. Zahra is Director at IHCEP (International Health Continuing Health Education Providers) & Managing Director, Principal Investigator and Scientist at C-Test Medicals Private Limited. Awarded the prestigious Glory Of India Award in 2008 on Pravasi Bharatiya Divas for outstanding achievements in dentistry she has made outstanding contribution towards awareness about oral hygiene, cancer prevention, detection and care.

Zarir Warden

Music Composer and Producer
A six member band, ‘The Other People’ is India’s pop/rock sensation with over eleven years of professional performances to their credit. They have captured young hearts with energetic performances at The Blue Frog, Hard Rock Café, Opus, Amadeus, Shiro, V Spot Café. Their international gigs include countries like Hongkong, Mauritius, Dubai to name a few. Giving stellar Performances at the Lakme India Fashion Week, the launch of Absolut Vodka’s Rock Edition and the ‘Fox History & Traveller’ channel, it is of no surprise that they have been featured in ‘Vogue July 2015’ as one of the most popular artists of the country. With the release of their debut studio album ‘#Dreamers #Believers #Lovers’, the band is spreading love for music among students through their TOP School Sessions, thus reaching out and inspiring young musicians to follow their dream and passion.
