Today correcting mistakes of the past has become ever crucial with the recent changes in environmental and socioeconomic issues. Only by correcting these mistakes can we achieve the perfection we seek in our lives. Such a correction only begins within the self, by exhibiting the virtues learned in the past to today's diversified society. With TEDxSabanciUniversity's "Re-", now is the time to remember , to rediscover and to renew.

Ayse Damla Iseri

After having graduated from Uskudar American Academy, I completed my bachelor’s degree both in Media Studies and History at University of Virginia. Throughout my college education, I focused on war and terror. Moving back to Istanbul, first I tried to work as a TV correspondent until the corruption protests. Then, I worked for International Cooperation Platform for more than a year. However, based on my strong belief in empathy as a source of 21st century revolution, I founded Dem Foundation in early 2014. Dem aims to execute empathy driven social entrepreneurship projects around a defined theme, which is now empathy with the deaf. Within the frame of defined theme, Dem’s objective is to initiate a perception transformation for the deaf in Turkey by recognizing Turkish Sign Language and the culture that language itself intrinsically creates. And currently, I am the President of Dem Foundation and getting my masters degree in NGO Management and Social Projects at Bilgi University.
