Alyssa is a mergers and acquisitions attorney by day and storyteller by night. She holds degrees in philosophy & Italian from Georgetown University and law from the UH. She is a 3-time winner of The Moth Story Slam and has been featured on 400+ NPR radio stations.

Deborah Mouton

Deborah D.E.E.P. Mouton an internationally-known poet, singer, actress, photographer, and the current poet laureate for Houston. After publishing her first poetry collection at the age on 19, D.E.E.P rose up in the spoken word world and was ranked the #2 female poet in the world.

Ghulam Kehar

Serving as the CEO of Amaanah Refugee Service’s, Ghulam has been the visionary at the helm of Amaanah. He has also served on the advisory board for the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs in Houston. Ghulam holds a bachelor’s degree in economics & entrepreneurship from the University of Houston.

Scott Solomon teaches ecology, evolutionary biology and scientific communication as a Professor in the Practice in the Department of BioSciences at Rice University. He received a doctorate in Ecology, Evolution and Behavior from UT Austin where his research examined the evolutionary basis of biological diversity in the Amazon Basin.

As a Houston native, Shayla Janel Hill is a film maker, fashion blogger, and boutique owner who discovered her truth through the art and creation of fashion. Hill recorded a behind-the-scenes feature documentary – ‘Fashion Weak’ – which documented her journey that led up to Slay for a Change.

Sri Sridhar is currently a sophomore at the University of Houston, majoring in Mathematics and Psychology. Sri is very passionate about music cognition and hopes to research about music's influence in the human brain. She has been learning Indian Classical Music for over a decade and actively performs both Indian and Western music.
