TEDxKarlovackaGimnazija event, The Big Bang, is a Youth Event which will focus on and explore the ’Big Bangs’ in life – Big Goals, Big Decisions, Big Transitions, Big Dreams, and Big Mistakes through the lenses of four extraordinary women whose energy and accomplishments are truly inspiring.

Borislava Peric-Rankovic

a Paralympic table tennis player, world champion in 2015.
Born in Bečej, Serbia in 1972.After an injury at work she ended up in a wheelchair. In 2001.she started playing wheelchair basketball and in 2003. table tennis. In 2004. at the World Cup,she won her first medal, a bronze team medal and got more motivation to reach for the top. At the European Championship she received the title of the European Champion which led her straight to the Olympics. As the most valuable medal, Borislava points out a silver one from Paralympics in Beijing. Her biggest accomplishment was participating in the European Championship in Split and winning a gold medal with her teammates. In London, during the Paralympics she won a silver medal in the T-4 class.In 2013 at the European Championship she won the gold medal in the T4-5 class. In 2015. at the European Championship in Denmark she played the Serbian final and won the gold. In Lisbon she was proclaimed to be the best table tennis player in the world in the category of table tennis players with disabilities.

Tijana Prodanović

associate professor of astrophysics at Physics Department, Faculty of Sciences + author
Tijana Prodanovic completed her bachelor’s degree in astrophysics at the University of Belgrade in 2001. In 2003, she acquired her master’s degree in astrophysics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA where she also completed her doctorate studies in 2006. She is currently employed as an associate professor at the Department of Physics, Faculty of Sciences in Novi Sad, Serbia. Her area of research includes: nuclear and particle astrophysics, nucleosynthesis, cosmic rays, gamma-ray astronomy, structure formation, chemical evolution, cosmology. Apart from teaching and her scientific work, she is actively promoting science and scientific communication.
