In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Andrew Slick

ANS Teacher
Benjamin Andrew Slick Jr., is a student at the American Nicaraguan School, he is in twelfth grade, and ever since a young age, he has been interested in space. His inspiration came from when his grandfather took him to the Kennedy Space Center, where he not only saw the different space modules that have been sent to space ever since the early 1960s, but also things that were launched in the 1990s. In eighth grade he participated for the first time in the NASA Space Apps Challenge, where he won second place at the local event, then later won third place for the global nominee mention for most inspiring. He has participated three times in this event, once in 2013, later in 2014, and finally in 2016. In 2016 he won People's Choice (3rd place) at the local event, and later during the month he was chosen at the TOP 10 globally for People's Choice.
