In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Dr. Nothabo Ncube

Dr. Thabo is an MD, motivational speaker and a millennial mentor. Having overcome her own personal and professional obstacles, her powerful story encourages this generation to face their challenges and conquer them. Dr. Thabo envisions a world where all women are given the opportunity to become the ultimate best versions of themselves, not only to dream bigger dreams, but to create and shape the world they have always desired. Having lost her mother at the age of 14 years old, at her mother's death bed, she made a promise to her to be a doctor. Her journey leading to the fulfillment of the promise has been one filled with loss, pain, failures, mistakes, resilience, courage, faith, hope, grace and overcoming adversity. She is now on a mission to empower, to educate, to encourage, to motivate, to uplift and to inspire this generation to use pain as a pedestal toward living a life of purpose.

Rob Howard

Over my 20-year marketing career, I've worked with brands big and small around the world. Some have become dependent on traditional forms of marketing and are mired in mediocrity, while others emphasize engagement and succeed in forging cult followings of loyal fans and customers. 5 years ago, I set out to unlock the genetic code of the world's most coveted, cult brands. I emerged enlightened, helped found a marketing firm (Cult Collective), a think tank, a global summit (The Gathering), and wrote a book (Fix: Break the Addiction That's Killing Brands) to help enlighten others. I think emerging marketers and business leaders would find what I've discovered enlightening too.

Steve Jenkins & Derek Walter

In just a few short years, Steve Jenkins and Derek Walter, dads of Esther the Wonder Pig, have cemented a place for themselves among the world's most well-known and successful animal activists. With a focus on humour, and creating lasting connections between people and animals, their "Kindness Is Magic" approach to advocacy has caught the attention of well over one-million followers from all over the world. In 2014 Steve and Derek founded the Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary in Campbellville, Ontario, where they continue to rescue abandoned and abused farmed animals.
