In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Amani Al-Khatahtbeh

Amani is the founder and editor-in-chief of MuslimGirl.net, the leading online magazine for American Muslim women. Reclaiming the Muslim women's narrative in Western media with its own unprecedented columns in outlets like Teen Vogue, Fortune, and Huffington Post, MuslimGirl is currently forging a new path by becoming the forefront of Muslim women's issues in mainstream coverage. Amani made the annual Forbes 30 Under 30 list for 2016, making her the first veiled woman to be honored in the media category and MuslimGirl the first Muslim company to ever receive the recognition. Amani is a rising voice in social, religious, and political issues, regularly appearing in such media outlets as CNN, BBC, and more. She is a human and civil rights activist and was one of the student organizers to force out former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice from her commencement invitation at Rutgers University in 2014. Amani has been profiled in The New York Times, CNN Money, VICE's Broadly, and beyond.

Angelos Alexopoulos

Angelos Alexopoulos studied in the Department of International and European Economic Studies of AUEB and has a master in Human Resources Management from Cardiff University. In 2008 he completed his PhD in Organizational Behavior in Dublin City University where he worked as a Post-Doctoral researcher until 2010 and then he started the study of ATLAS experiment in CERN. In 2012 he started working at the Education & Outreach Group of CERN. Since 2015 Angelos is working in order to communicate the CMS experiment in CERN where he plans and executes innovative and creative activities

Charis Katakis

Charis Katakis, Ph.D. Psychologist, is the Founder and President of the Laboratory for the Study of Human Relations, which is involved in diverse activities (therapy, training, research, community work, organizational activities and publications). Following a systemic view of life and sciences it has developed original theoretical conceptualizations, methodologies and applications which enhance growth and integration. For over 30 years it offers counseling and therapy services to individuals, couples, families, training and supervision to a wide range of professionals and organizations, organizes regularly seminars, workshops and conferences and is involved in research and publications.

Christina Karagiannis

Christina Karagiannis was born in Düsseldorf, grew up between Athens and Santorini and she now lives and works as a professional photographer in Austria.She’s been involved in street photography, night clubbing photos for travel and music booklets, travel photojournalism for greek and national press, 2004 Olympic Games as a photo editor and Photo Management in summer campaign of Piraeus Municipality. She collaborated with private housing companies in greek islands and Alpes and she continued by taking photos of musicians and music bands in international festivals.Finally, she’s taken part in individual exhibitions in Athens and Vienna and collective exhibitions in Greece and Austria.

Ella Overkleeft

Ella Overkleeft is a creative producer with an emphasis on urban development. Since 2013, she has been a member of the Night-Mayor Foundation; an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to maintaining a dynamic nightlife while strengthening connections between the municipality, small business owners and residents to sustain Amsterdam as a creative capital.

Giorgos Kosmopoulos

He studied International Relations at Panteion University followed by a Master’s degree in Human Rights at European Inter-University Centre in Venice.He has worked for several years in private sector and since 2010 he started working in Amnesty International,firstly as Researcher and Strategies’ Responsible for the International Secretariat in London while in 2014 he took over as Director at Amnesty International of Greece.

Jay Ellyiot

Joseph Elliot Tiu, better known as “Jay Ellyiot”, is a music producer and DJ born and raised in Toronto, Canada. His music has been featured in digital campaigns for notable brands including Target, Marriott, Marvel, Toms, and Covergirl. His talents have also produced music for popular Youtube Gurus such as Shameless Maya and Mila Victoria. In 2012, Jay was featured in Beats, Love, Alcohol & Party, and performed alongside super-producer !llmind and the legendary Buckwild. Jay is also 1/2 of the dynamic producing duo known as “ENTRSTELLAR”. They have crafted music for emerging artist Kyle Dion, which has been featured on the Top 20 R&B iTunes charts and also premiered on Billboard.com. The duo released their first EP “Grand Theft Audio” through independent music label Roseville Music Group in 2015.

Katerina Papanagiotou

She studied in the department of graphic design at TEI of Athens Faculty of Graphic Arts & Design.She worked in various advertising companies such as Karamella,Lowe Lintas Athens and Upset!. She’s a founding member of MNP creatιve office that has been awarded repeatedly in Greece and abroad too.She has taught packaging design in Vakalo Art & Design College.She lives and works in Athens.

Katerine Duska

Katerine Duska is a Greek-Canadian singer/songwriter currently residing in Athens, Greece. Her debut album 'Embodiment' was released in 2015 by EMI/ Universal Records. Born and raised in Montreal, Canada by Greek parents, she was introduced to a wide range of musical influences from pop, soul and r&b to folk and classical music. Her own musical style has been described as indie-pop meets neo-soul, due to her trademark soulful rasp. Katerine first emerged in the Greek music scene in 2013 with her hit song "One in a Million" and since then has appeared, among others, at the Megaron- Athens Concert Hall, Rockwave Festival, Gazarte, Athens Pride, Meteora Music Festival, Block 33 Salonica, TedX Limassol and collaborated with artists such as Tom Baxter and Craig Walker. Katerine Duska is represented by Melina Vasiliou, Noxious Butterfly Management and EMI/Universal Records.

Konstantinos Vasilakos

Konstantinos Vasilakos is a composer and electronic music researcher. He has a BA in electronic music production from the Central Lancashire University, a Masters in Arts from the University of Utrecht and a PhD in music composition from the Keele University. He teaches music technology and interactive means in music composition at the Metropolitan College in Athens. Konstantinos took also part in various research programs, such as the European Art-Science-Technology Network of the University of Grenoble and is a member of the Birmingham Ensemble for Electroacoustic Research (BEER).

Panagiotis Mihail

Panagiotis Mihail has Cyprian ancestry and was born in Germany in 1967. He graduated in 1990 from the Fitness and Training Department of the University of Athens and specialized as an aerobics instructor and personal trainer. After his battle with cancer in 2007, he founded the NGO “Be Strong”, which aims at supporting people who are involved with cancer. He is a member of “Hübners Who is Who” since 2010 and he has also founded a support line 1069 for people who are in need of encouragement.

Phoebe Koundouri

Professor Dr.Phoebe Koundouri has a PhD,MSc and MPhil on Economics from University of Cambridge(U.K).She’s a professor of Economics & Econometry focused on natural resources,energy and environment in AUEB,a visiting professor in LSE(London School of Economics),the Founder and Scientific Director of ΙCRE8: International Center for Research on the Environment and the Economy and owns the greek chair of United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network.Phoebe Koundouri is among the top 1,5% of female economists in the world,with lots of academic distinctions,published books and research publications.In the last 20 years,her research has been funded with more than 20 million euros,resulting in executed projects and in important contribution on policies’ formation all over the world.

Silas Serafim

Born in Komotini. Studied acting at the National Theatre of Northern Greece and economics at the School of Business Administration and Liberal Arts. He's been in plays, movies, TV shows and commercials while being one of the first stand up comedians in Greece; an art form he still serves to this day. He has in fact, taught stand up comedy and public speech at the Theatre of Change. His broadcasting experience includes radio shows on ERA Sport, The 1st Channel of Greek Public Radio and Kosmos FM. He also co-hosts the current affairs show “Studio 3” on ERT and has his own YouTube show, “In The Mind of Silas” on ComedyLab.gr. His stand up shows started 20 years ago, with “Comedy Nights” - the first stand up comedy show in Greece. Since then he has performed at the House Of Art, the Modern Theatre of Athens, the Badminton Theatre, Tin Pan Alley as well as many venues throughout Greece and has just completed a tour of the UK, performing in Manchester, Edinburgh and London.

Spiros-Richard Hagabimana

Spiros-Richard Hagabimana a greek citizen and graduate of naval academy,was until recently colonel of Burundian police.He also studied in Athens Law School while for a few years he worked at AUEB's library.

Spyros Michaloulis

Spyros Michaloulis has graduated from the Accounting and Finance Department of University of Macedonia and has an MSc from the University of Athens. He was a founding member of kariera.gr. Spyros also worked as a trainee at Unilever HPC Export in Bristol, and then he worked as a Sales Director at Epsilon Net and kariera.gr. In 2004 he founded Orientum along with Nikos Pavlakos. For the last 10 years he writes the annual book “Pame…Panepistimio” (=Let’s Go to University) along with the Orientum Team.

Thanasis Mavridis

Τhanasis Mavridis,born in 1966,works in the field of press since 1984 and is a journalist,having worked in media resulting in him being nowadays one of the main shareholders and general director of www.liberal.gr. He lives and works in Athens,loyal to his ideas and free on his beliefs.
